Framing Advice please...

I think this is my overall favorite item, I got both autographs my self and put a lot of time into getting this signed...It is a 24 inch x 36 inch, and it is just killing me having it rolled up in a tube in my closet...

I've emailed and called 3-4 different framers, and the cheapest quote that I've got is $250 to frame this. I don't want to go cheap with it, I want the double or triple matting, and I haven't decided if I want a nameplate at all, but I obviously want conservation glass...

Anyway, my question is, does anyone know where to go to get this done? or a more affordable way to get it done? dropping 250 on it seems insane, but maybe that is what I have to do...

Thanks for the help,
Brian

I have used Fast Frame in Brookfield and have been very happy with their work and prices. I'm going there sometime in the next week to drop off a couple of vintage pennants.

I'm not into nameplates at all, and have never used them. I just use conservation glass and acid free matting, and a simple black satin frame.

Check out the Fast Frame website for a $25 coupon. If you start using them, don't be surprised to see $40 coupons arrive in the mail.

I frame all of my own stuff. I always use the museum/UV glass and acid free everything. I use Hobby Lobby and Michael's. Hobby Lobby always has 50% off coupons on their websites that includes framing. I dont use nameplates either. My guess would be that you can do it yourself for under $120.

$250 is insane btw. I have an authentic signed Favre Jersey and it is enourmous with pigskin matting and Museum quality glass and that was $250 out the door.

There is a frame shop in Middleton, right on university that has a sale banner on custom framing. As far as a name plate, I know there is a place in the mall that does custom engraving plates super cheap. Think I had one done for about $15, can't remember though. For work, we have all of our stuff framed at the Great Frame Up over by Woodman's on the west side. The do pretty decent work on pictures (not impressed with there Jersey's), but they are not the cheapest place in the world if I recall correctly.

you can check out this site http://www.americanframe.com/ . i have heard good things from friends about it. i believe you enter in the size of the piece and they give you a bunch of options, then they send you all the pieces cut so all you have to do is assemble it.

Where did you end up getting it done? It looks very nice, and $100 sounds like a very reasonable price (when compared to the $250 you were originally quoted) especially with all the matting and engraved plate.
