"Aluminum Bat"?

This year's renewal paperwork from the rec department mentions "aluminum bat" in a couple places. For 2012, there are two 10-week "Aluminum Bat Leagues" playing at Wick and Juneau, looks like they're new for 2012. Then, on the renewal form, there's a questionnaire of, "Are you in favor of our leagues using only aluminum bats effective 2013?"

I have to plead ignorance, what's this about? Is this referring to strictly aluminum material instead of modern composites? Safety in mind for pitchers and infielders? Or just to prevent home run derbies?

NO! I would assume this is about the potential ban of composite bats for 2013 which has been talked about last year I believe. I've never seen anyone get hurt in any league I've ever played in and I think it's a stupid overreaction. I think the problem is coming from those that are using illegal bats with juiced up balls.

I am not in favor of the league using aluminum only.
