BREWERFAN.NET MAJOR LEAGUE FORUM

FAQ

Are there any

special etiquette requests for the Major League forum? In addition to observing Fan Forum

Etiquette, we ask that members adhere to these two

requests:Note that a Designated

Threads List has been provided to list topics that are

"catch-all" homes for certain types of posts. It's located in the row

of links near the top of most pages on this forum. If there's a

significant change to this list, it'll be stickied for a few

days.Please avoid

posting full lineups outside of the designated lineup

thread.Where can I find answers to simple

questions?There

are times when looking something up is easier than asking a simple

question and waiting for an answer. To help members, a Resource List is

provided in the Fan Sites /

Resources thread. It can be accessed from most board pages

via the row of links directly above the discussion

area.

What's the

story behind the search tags?Members are welcome to use the board's search tag feature

to make topics easier to find. As Yuku displays a maximum of 100 tags

per forum, we have to work within a general plan. Don't worry too much

about "goofing up", though. Moderators can always make adjustments.

Tagging tips are included in the reply below.

TAGS

Tags are
keywords that describe a topic. They're used for filtering topics in
the forums to make them easier to find. The ability to tag threads is a
really neat feature that'll go a long way toward helping members locate
information on the forum.

In each forum, tags can be found in a "cloud" above the
discussion list. Members who start threads and moderators have the
ability to add tags to a topic. In the Yuku post editor, a field for
including tags is located below the box where you type your
message.

Don't be
afraid to use this feature when you start a new thread. Also, don't be
too afraid of goofing things up. If there's an error or if new tags
don't turn out to be a fit, moderators can always make
adjustments.

Tips and
guidelines:

When deciding whether or not to
create a new tag, please check existing tags to make sure that your new
tag isn't adequately covered by one that already exists.
  • Try not to create two similar tags. For
example, we already have a 'fielder' tag, so we wouldn't need a
    'prince' tag.
  • Yuku has a 100
tag per forum limit, so we have to economize somewhat by using a few
    "catch-all" tags. For example...
    • Because there
isn't room to tag opposing players and teams, divisional tags are
provided: 'aleast', 'alcentral', etc. Please don't tag threads confined
to Brewer-specific content with the 'nlcentral' tag.
    • Since topics in this forum encompass three
managers, the "brewermanager" tag can cover all of
      them.
    • Brewer
      coaches have the 'brewercoaches' tag.
    • Former Brewers have the 'formerbrewers' tag.
    • Front office personnel outside of Doug
Melvin and Mark Attanasio have the 'frontoffice' tag.
    • All three playoff levels can fall under
      the 'playoffs' tag.
  • Tags consisting of two or more words are
possible if they're separated by commas. However, certain common words
    (and, of, the,
    etc.)
will be dropped from the tag. For instance, "rookie
of the year" will display as "rookie year".

Also, a lot of members may find it difficult to 'reuse' a
multiple word tag. It's probably best to write tags as single
    words.

  • If you want to
add, delete, or change tags in your thread, follow the same procedure
    for editing a post.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
