Extra inning record

We are 3-10 in extras this year.

If we are even 'below average' at 6-7, instead of terrible, we are 1 1/2 up in the division, not 1 1/2 down.

Is this more on just a lack of big clutch hitting, or the pen? I can't imagine any MLB team has a worse extras record than us, much less a winning team.

I'd think it is more the shallow pen. It means pitching lower tier talent but it also means carrying a smaller bench so fewer matchup options.

If you want to determine who's at fault you need to look at the runs scored and runs allowed in extras versus the league average. I have no idea what those numbers are nor how exactly the Brewers would compare to them.

Brewers bullpen has more losses than any pen in baseball. Part of that is the lack of quality and depth in the pen, part is how Counsell uses them, and part is the offensive failures in crunch time as the hitters all swing for the fences.

Isn't it time to question Darnell Coles?

They are 5th in the NL in Runs per Game. Their best offensive player has only played half the season. The idea that the hitting coach is part of the problem.... well.... yeah.
