R I P Dutch Rennert (former NL Umpire)

Saw during Cub-Dodger game that former NL umpire and Oshkosh's own Dutch Rennert has passed away at age 88. Dutch was known for his demonstrative strike call. During the winter months Dutch was a high school and college basketball official in Wisconsin. He refed many a game in and around Fox Valley back in my day including some that I played in. He was just as distinctive making calls on the court as he was on the diamond

 

Rest in peace Dutch.
