Brandon Woodruff owns a 6.16 ERA and has allowed a .925 OPS to hitters over his last four starts. It might be fair to wonder if it's time to worry about the Milwaukee Brewers' right-hander. Then again, maybe not.

For the second time already this season, a Milwaukee Brewers player has been suspended for 80 games following a positive PED test. JC Mejia will miss the nearly three months of games and be ineligible to compete in the 2022 playoffs.

Biloxi returned to their winning ways with a 4-2 week. Wisconsin went 5-1 again. Carolina played at .500. Several top prospects had huge weeks. Biloxi crushes a team record six home runs in support of Noah Zavolas’ 2022 debut. A phenomenal eight-K, three-inning shutout debut for Stiven Cruz led Carolina to victory. Nashville racks up 11 runs for a comfortable win. Brandon Knarr is once-again dominant for Wisconsin, with ten strikeouts in seven shutout innings.

The Brewers conclude a three city road-trip with a three game set in Miami against the Marlins. After dropping two of three in both Atlanta and Cincinnati, the Crew look to rebound here and head home on a positive note. The Brewers kick off the series still holding a 3.5 game lead on the division rival Cardinals.

The affiliate bats were up to the task on Saturday night, leading the way to wins at the top three levels of the Crew's system. RHP Tyler Herb, a recently-turned 30-year-old with two stints in the Seattle system on his resume, in addition to minor league stays with San Francisco and Baltimore, continued to shine in Biloxi, making his case for the Brewers to find room on a crowded Nashville roster. Though the kids in Carolina dropped their contest, their bats were hardly idle. Warmer temperatures bringing about crooked numbers, yeah, we're ready!

Perhaps it's fitting that the four Brewers affiliates split their contests on Friday the 13th. It is also that day on the calendar for the opponents after all. Let's dive into the action and learn why it was a 50-50 kind of evening on the farm.

Keston Hiura drove in seven runs as Nashville cruised. Clutch hitting (including three triples) turned ten hits into ten runs for a Wisconsin victory, while Biloxi produced only three runs on 11 hits in a loss. The frustrated Mudcats left 11 men on base in their defeat.

Let's start off this week's Forum Friday with an apology. Having been a Brewer fan for over 40 years, I should know better than to call a 5-1 week "ho hum".  This weeks 1-5 record is clearly karma reminding me I should never take the Brewers winning baseball games for granted.  You can put the blame for this past week squarely on me. 

Injuries. They’re always part of the pre-draft process. But this year feels different. It’s been big names. It’s been a lot of names. And they seem to be happening quite frequently. 

The Shuckers fought back in their matinee game but reverted to the poor form seen during their recent seven-game skid. The Sounds clawed their way back to even but faded late with three uncharacteristic runs conceded by the bullpen. Carolina lost a well-pitched low-scoring affair in Fayetteville. BUT, all was literally not lost: Wisconsin kept plugging away and ultimately won on a classic move the runner brand of baseball late and a vintage May 2022 closing performance from Cam Robinson. 

Four affiliate victories on the evening made for an exciting evening and a joyous recap. Wisconsin with the lone blow-out while Carolina and Nashville pulled out late victories. Josh Lindbolm lost his chance at a no hitter (and a 1-0 lead) in the sixth inning. Biloxi tried to showcase the error of their ways but managed to pull out the win regardless. Although the Milwaukee Brewers rank fifth in runs scored (4.77 runs per game) after Monday, offensive concerns remain. They have crushed bad teams and struggled against better pitching. Is the key factor how infrequently they swing the bat?

Week 4 of the minor-league season is complete. The week started with the promotions of some very exciting prospects. One of them had a huge week. Which one? Nashville keeps winning, and Wisconsin’s pitching staff is pretty remarkable. Check out all that happened in the Brewers’ system last week. 

Alex Hall delivered the game-winning single to snatch a Rattler victory from defeat. Jackson Chourio had a special day, as a Mudcat rally fell just short. The Sounds threw their 5th shutout of this young season. Biloxi gave it their all in another close loss.

The Brewers head to Atlanta to rematch the Braves, who knocked them out in the NLDS last season. At 18-8, the red hot Crew hold first place in the NL Central while the Braves at 12 - 15 are hanging out in fourth place in the NL East. Getting third baseman and super utility man Luis Urias back was a boost for the Brewers bats, and they’ll look to continue the hot hitting in Atlanta.
