Brewers Video
For the week, Wisconsin (4-2) won its series and Biloxi managed a 3-3 split, while Nashville (2-3) and Carolina (0-6) lost ground.
Transactions:
- OF Eddie Rosario (.823 OPS in 83 PAs in 20 games) of AAA Nashville granted a release from his minor league contract, thus allowing him to become a free agent
- RHP Enrique Velasquez activated from DSL Brewers’ Gold’s 7-day injured list

Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Nashville 5, Norfolk 0
Box Score and Game Log
Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Dalbec Homers Twice in Series Finale Against Norfolk
The Saturday rainout may have come as a relief to the Nashville staff, as they came back refreshed to shutout Norfolk on 8 singles and 4 walks on Sunday, led by starting LHP Bruce Zimmermann (4 2/3 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks).
After OF Bobby Dalbec’s 2-out, 2-run shot (105.7mph exit velocity, 392 feet) in the 1st inning, Zimmermann stranded 5 baserunners over the first three frames before 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. doubled and scored in the 3rd inning and SS Freddy Zamora (3-for-4, RBI, SB) singled and scored on a double steal.
Dalbec’s 7th inning solo blast came off the bat at 110.8mph, reportedly travelling 415 feet.
Sounds’ Extras:
- In truth, both teams struggled to cash in on their opportunities, going a combined 1-for-17 with runners in scoring position while together stranding 19 baserunners.
- Five relievers saw action for Nashville, with LHP Tyler Jay delivering the cleanest work (3 up, 3 down, 1 K).
- Seemingly as a rule, 3B Anthony Seigler must make significant contributions every game, doubling, walking and scoring to lift his on-base streak to 35 games.
Next week’s outlook: Nashville (40-27) comes home to take on Cubs’ affiliate Iowa (37-31)
Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Biloxi 14, Chattanooga 8
Box Score and Game Log
Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: 12 Unanswered Runs Lead Shuckers to Wild 14-8 Win over Lookouts
6-0 deficit on the road entering the 5th inning? That’s no problem for our Biloxi Shuckers.
After only producing a single and a walk over 4 innings, back-to-back walks to open the 5th inning against Lookouts’ tiring starting pitcher Kevin Abel (who tossed 185 pitches this week) set the stage for 1B Luke Adams’ grand slam and 3B Brock Wilken’s game-tying 2-run homer, which some Chattanooga faithful were not certain left the yard (Coach Dick Schofield ejected).
The Shuckers were already on their 4th pitcher when RHP Zach Peek issued 3 consecutive walks in the bottom of the 5th inning, thankfully getting a called strikeout to end the frame. LHP Mark Manfredi then escaped a 2-on, 1-out situation in the 6th inning via a fly out and ground out.
OF Luis Lara's 7th inning RBI single gave Biloxi its first lead, with DH Mike Boeve following with a 2-run blast for a little breathing room. LHP Tate Kuehner (not scheduled to pitch) got tossed for chirping from the dugout as the Shuckers added 3 more runs in that half-inning.
Shuckers’ Extras:
- The situation was already charged when Manfredi unfortunately hit 2 of 4 batters faced in the bottom of the 7th inning, prompting ejections for the Lookouts' center fielder and Manager (on the 1st HBP), then himself and Manager Joe Ayrault (on the 2nd one).
- RHP Tyler Bryant was unfazed by the road drama, stranding a baserunner for Manfredi and retiring 5 of 6 batters faced (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks).
- All of that action was packed into 3 hours, 24 minutes, including starting RHP Brett Wichrowski struggling in his 2nd start of the week (1 2/3 IP, 4 R (0 ER), 3 H, 2 BB, 1 K).
- Back to the offense, Lara (3-for-6, double, RBI) and OF Adam Hall (3-for-5, 3 RBIs, SB) had 6 of the team’s 12 hits on the afternoon.
Next week’s outlook: Biloxi (38-25) returns home to battle Cubs’ affiliate Knoxville (30-32), aiming for at least 2 wins to clinch the first half Southern League title.
Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Wisconsin 10, Great Lakes 4
Box Score and Game Log
Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Areinamo Drives in Five To Lead Rattlers Past Loons
Look again at that jam-packed game report linked above for a wonderful game write up from Wisconsin’s Chris Mehring, including 4 embedded Twitter/X video highlights.
After also starting Tuesday’s game, RHP Ryan Birchard’s Sunday start was likely to be a relatively short one, but C Blayberg Diaz helped him through 3 innings (1 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 2 Ks) with a 2nd inning pickoff and 3rd inning caught stealing.
2B Jadher Areinamo (4-for-5, double, 5 RBIs) had an adventurous day, singling but getting picked off in the 3rd inning, then delivering an RBI double to break the 1-1 deadlock in the 6th inning but getting thrown out at home on a fly ball double play, coming through with a 2-out, 2-run single in the 7th inning for a 5-1 advantage, then adding another RBI single in the 8th inning for good measure.
RHP Patricio Aquino (2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks) was the most effective of three relievers, covering the 4th and 5th innings while the game was still knotted 1-1.
Timber Rattlers’ Extras:
- Eight Wisconsin players registered hits, with the 9th drawing 2 walks in a fun offensive day. Steady contributor SS Eduardo Garcia was 2-for-4 with a double, walk and run scored.
- Pitching for the 2nd time in 3 days, RHP Miles Langhorne struggled a bit (1 2/3 IP, 2 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 HBP, 1 K), but was helped out by a C-1B-3B-C pickoff to end the 8th inning, then induced a ground ball double play and got a called strikeout to eventually close it out an inning later.
Next week’s outlook: The Timber Rattlers (33-30) stay on the road, scooting over to Grand Rapids (actually Comstock Park) to play Tigers’ affiliate West Michigan (43-20) for a 6-game set.
Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Lynchburg 2, Carolina 1
Box Score and Game Log
Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Mudcats Swept at Lynchburg
The Mudcats out-hit the Hillcats 6-4, had better opportunities (0-for 8 with RISP vs. 3-4 for Lynchburg) and more extra-base hits (2 to 0), but couldn’t find the clutch hits to grab a win in the series road finale.
In that respect, perhaps it was a bad omen when leadoff 2B Jesus Made (2-for-3, double, 2 walks, 2 SBs) was stranded in the 1st inning, watching a ground out, strike out and pop out from third base (after his double and stolen base).
Making his second start of the week, RHP Travis Smith allowed the first 4 batters to reach base in the bottom half of the frame (including a 2-run single), but was solid thereafter (4 1/3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 4 Ks in 69 pitches).
While Made was picked off and caught stealing to end Carolina’s half of the 5th and 7th innings, Carolina had a good chance to tie the game in the 8th inning (OF Braylon Payne single, OF Jose Anderson walk with 1-out), but Lynchburg got back-to-back strikeouts to stifle the threat.
Mudcats’ Extras:
- Kudos to RHP Garrett Hodges (2/3 IP, 0 R) for stranding two baserunners for Smith and 18-year old RHP Melvin Hernandez for tossing three hitless, scoreless innings (1 BB, 1 K).
- Per the box score and linked game report, OF Reece Walling tripled and scored in the 7th inning for Carolina’s lone run.
- As Carolina suffered its 10th loss in 11 games, Lynchburg clinched the first half title with the result.
Next week’s outlook: Carolina (35-26) returns home to turn over a new leaf, hosting Royals’ affiliate Columbia (34-29) for six games commencing on Tuesday.
We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Monday, the focus is purely on the Rookie Leagues, with the DSL Brewers Blue and Gold squads (both 4-6) kicking off action at 10:00am CST, while the ACL Brewers (18-14) host the ACL Dodgers (15-17) at 8:00pm CST. The Milwaukee Brewers have an off day before playing at Wrigley Field Tuesday night.
