Lou Piniella says something silly

Lou says Soriano will hit 1 when he returns, no big thing, but went on to say

 

"He's been swinging the bat very well in batting practice"

 

Is it just me? Doesn't everybody swing well in BP? Is it an odd thing to say when asked about him coming off the DL and batting .175 before that?

Well, mechanics and injury problems can cause someone to swing badly, even in BP

 

I don't think it's all that silly (outside of Soriano hitting first)

This is a rather vanilla statement that really doesn't strike me either way. Just kinda...meh...alright...

I've been using that line for 30 years - we had a switch-hitter that was hitting .300 - .150 left-handed and .150 right-handed
