He pitched at Miller twice last season. At the time, I meantioned that it looks like he balks. His feet are always moving after he is set. I thought of him last night when the MLB network guys were talking about the Marlins releiver that was called for a balk yesterday.

I remember seeing this guy last year at Miller Park as well. I don't remember him doing the wild "fake pitch" move, but I remember the weird front foot movements and thinking, as ecjimg pointed out, that it seemed like a balk move. I swore he did this same thing with guys on base. I thought once you got set and then lifted that front foot, the runner is free to take off.

The rule is that as long as you do the same thing every time it's not a balk. I think it's a stupid rule but it is the rule nonetheless.

Wonderful clip. It's taking "idiosyncratic" to a new level. Hrabosky, Tiant, Fetters. . .and now Sammy.

 

Not sure I would want to watch that 70 times a year, but at least for now, I'm hooked.
