Gary Carter's health worsens (Latest: dies at age 57)

This is extremely sad news. My thoughts go out to him and his family.http://eye-on-baseball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22297882/34468077

Very sad. God be with him and his family.

I hope he can find some kind of peace with not only his loved ones, but himself too. Very sad indeed.

How sad. He's only 57, and it's not sounding like he'll get past 58.

The Stand Up to Cancer spot with Ron Darling holding up a "My Catcher" sign was really moving.

I wish him and his family well in this very rough time.

Sad to hear. Carter has been one of the good guys, heavily involved in charitable causes throughout and after his career.

I agree on both counts. Since Gary's playing days were a bit before my time, it took me a while to connect the dots on what Darling's sign meant, but once I did... yeah.

Carter has died. Age 57.

This stinks. Gary was probably in my top 10-15 favorite 'non Brewer' ball players of that era. 57. Too young by far.

What sad news, he was one of the good guys, Rip Gary.

Awesome video of Gary Carter's final at bat. Really emotional. You wish all players could have such good send offs.
