Cleveland might be able to get someone at a more reasonable contract. Although are any of the major league FA contracts "reasonable" by normal person standards??

So Moreland is being paid basically what Thames is. I'm not sure what to make of that, seems low. And this in no way is preventing Boston from signing any of those guys. I'm still 99% sure that Encarnacion signs with the Red Sox. After trading for Sale DD is in it to win it.

Normally I would agree with you.

 

But a lot of reports have the BoSox trying very hard to avoid paying any luxury tax this season and the moves already made have them within a couple million of that threshold. Signing EE puts them over.
