Unfortunate injury, he will then still be a rookie next year. It does bring up the question of if they will send him to the minors at the start of next year in order to preserve another year of service and control him through 2024. Even if they trade Broxton probably could justify Phillips over Brinson to start the year.

I wouldn't mind trading Broxton in the off season and using Brinson and Phillips in a platoon. Then you can get both ABs and play the hot hand at the same time while giving them the best opportunity to succeed. Then if both are showing starter capabilities, deal with that "problem" in 2019.
