Bakhtiari makes PFF's All Pro, but snubbed by the Pro Bowl

David just made the PFF All Pro team, which is probably much more difficult to make than the Pro Bowl. Chances are that he will make the Pro Bowl after SB rosters and injury backouts are taken into consideration since he is an alternate.

But I have to say... I was wrong. I thought he was a stop-gap option that was a RT at best. He as worked really hard to improve himself into one of the best LTs in the game.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I realize that players care about the Pro Bowl to the extent that they might have bonuses tied to making one, but otherwise do they really care? Even rookies have enough money that flying their family out to Hawai'i for a while isn't any financial struggle. Plus who'd want to get injured in a Pro Bowl game?

They care because they are competitive and they have pride. Why wouldn’t they care?
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

That must be why a bunch of players decide to skip the Pro Bowl every year.

Skipping it is one thing. Not being recognized or named to the team is another.

No it's not. Unless they had bonuses tied to a Pro Bowl or All-whatever team appearance like a previous poster said, I doubt they pay any attention to it.

Considering David Bakhtiari has had a few posts about it on Twitter, I beg to differ. They guys want to be recognized for their play. Being named to a pro bowl is just one of those ways they are recognized as being the best in their sport.
