i flipped a little the game on for a little bit during brewers commercials. it looked pretty bad. It is what it is. Football will always do well. I just don't see how its going to compete with the MLB and the NBA playoffs.

Despite football's stronghold on the sports culture, I'm not sure there's a market for minor league, independent pro football.

For now, teams are only nominally associated with a region or city.  There are no home games, so no chance to develop a fanbase in any market besides Birmingham, where all the games are played.

38 man rosters will likely result in more injuries, as fatigued guys will be given less rest.

Mostly the players aren't good enough to play in the NFL.  TV viewership dropped off quite a bit from the opening games, and attendance seems really meager, even at just $10 a ticket.

Still, networks need programming, so it should probably live long enough to make it through this first year, but with all the entertainment options available to occupy our time, the USFL seems destined to fail.

I didn't really piece it together, but Birmingham is only 2 hrs from me.  I may have to try it out and see how it goes.

Plenty of seats are available.  I wonder what the experience would be like, sitting in a mostly empty stadium.

I have been to a game at Rutgers.  Not as bad as you think.  Lots of leg room and short lines for food and restrooms. Easy to leave stadium afterwards.

I saw a little bit of that game. I think the Oakland A's draw more fans.

I watched the AAF and XFL before they folded and enjoyed them. I haven't watched any of this and it's because I've moved past football season. The other ones started right after the NFL ended so I was still in football mode. At this point in the year I'm more interested in baseball and just not being trapped inside my house. I bet a lot of people are the same.

Hah living in Arizona it is the opposite.  During the NFL season I am trying to get outside of the house as that is when the weather is more cooperative meaning it is not 100+ outside starting at 8am.
