Wes Helms and Russell Branyan reunited!

Cleveland signed him to a minor league contract -- and then sold him to the Phillies for cash -- I am guessing somewhere in the 4.5 billion range.

Is he in MLB or did the Phils keep him at AAA? He's better than Helms, so he should be able to pick up some PT in Philly if he's with the big club.

I heard this too on the Braves Mets game and was looking for a link...

The Phillies have just become my third favorite team.

Actually, I thought Russ would have been a good fit on the Phillies back when the Brewers released him.

Philadelphia now has Helms, who doesn't defend well but might hit at times. They also have Nuñez, who's a fine defender but doesn't hit. Now they've added Branyan, an average defender who hits -- and offers the bonus of being able to play four positions. It looks to me that they have it all at 3B, just with the traits spread among three different players.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Just days after I declared him dead, he's back to entertain us all. I'd love to see him do really well there, just to prove everyone wrong. Too bad it'lll undoubtedly be more of the same. Still, how can you not love a guy with a .197 average and .750 OPS?

I am happy for Russell but a bit disappointed. I had tickets for the Bisons game today and was looking forward to the true Brewers reunion - Branyan, Durrington and Ginter all on the same AAA team!

He can probably really mash in that park. I hope he gets the opportunity to do so. Maybe he will do the same for the Phils as he did for the Padres last year and spark their offense to a playoff run! (and that is only about 1/4 sarcasm - he was their best player for the last two months of the year last year, playoffs included)

Russ and Wes is a pretty decent platoon, and as Brett said, in that park especially. They won't match Ryan Braun's production, but for the money, they'll be in the middle of the pack, which makes them pretty economical.
