Breakdown / Highlights
Off the tails of the All-Star break and a season sweep of the Dodgers, Milwaukee landed in Seattle on a 10-game winning streak. Brandon Woodruff toed the slab in game one of the series, and after six innings of scoreless baseball, the streak was inching closer to 11. George Kirby matched that effort for the Mariners through five innings, but a four-run sixth from the Milwaukee offense was all they’d need, eventually winning 6-0.
Seattle would bounce back for game two and snap the winning streak, as Logan Gilbert fanned 10 Brewers, while Cal Raleigh homered off of Nick Mears after Jacob Misiorowski saw his dominant start cut short by pitch count limitations.
The Brewers' offense bounced back in a big way the next day to capture the series. Every starter recorded a hit, with the team tallying 17 knocks total, while Quinn Pirester provided seven innings of two-run ball in the 10-2 win.
The Marlins were in town for American Family Field's 25th anniversary next, and on Friday and Saturday, they spoiled the fun. A 5-1 loss was the result on Friday despite a solid outing from Freddy Peralta, while Jose Quintana struggled on Saturday to the tune of a 7-4 defeat. Brandon Woodruff and the Brewers bounced back to salvage a game on Sunday, with Blake Perkins providing the walk-off heroics in the ninth.
