The week started with the final regular-season meetings against the Cubs. The first matchup in that set saw Robert Gasser match up with Matthew Boyd at American Family Field. The Cubs twirler was dominant early, getting through seven innings of one-run ball. Craig Counsell rolled Boyd back out for the eighth—a decision that would be costly, as Boyd left without recording an out in the frame. Instead, he left two runners on base, whom the Brewers cashed in against the Chicago bullpen. The Crew held on to win from there, thanks in no small part to great outfield defense.

Jacob Misiorowski faced the Cubs for a second consecutive week on Tuesday, and redeemed himself after a rocky outing against Chicago at Wrigley Field. The Brewers' bats were quiet outside of Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio, though, and despite Misiorowski’s strong outing, Chicago carried a 3-1 lead into the 9th. Chicago’s closer Jacob Webb recorded the first two outs of that frame, but a pinch-hit single from Christian Yelich and a game-tying home run from Jackson Chourio sent the game to the 10th, where Luis Lara walked the contest off with a single.

The Brewers completed their second sweep of the Cubs in 2026 on Wednesday, jumping all over Kevin Gausman. Meanwhile, Logan Henderson was brilliant, only allowing an unearned run in his five innings of work. The large lead would evaporate late, as a Brandon Sporat implosion allowed the Cubs to bring the tying run to the plate in the 9th, but Abner Uribe mopped up the mess and closed out the game.

After an off day on Thursday, the Reds were in town on Friday with Dustin May on the slab to oppose them. May was brilliant, throwing six scoreless innings, but it was the Brewers' bats who stole headlines by hanging 20 runs on the Reds, highlighted by another 4-hit day from Chourio and six RBIs from William Contreras. With the win, Milwaukee secured their eighth playoff berth in nine years—no small feat, but not the prize on which this club is now focused.

The bats were not dormant after Friday’s 20-run outburst, as the Brewers put up 13 runs in Saturday’s contest en route to a 13-9 win. Those combined 33 runs over two days totaled a franchise record for any two-game stretch, although that fact did hide poor outings from both Shane Drohan and Kyle Harrison.

Chase Burns stood in the way of a Brewers sweep on Sunday, and despite a big swings from Jake Bauers and Joey Ortiz, the Reds were able to outlast Gasser and the Brewers bullpen, sneaking out a 4-3 win on Sunday.
