  1. Yeah these kinds of proposed deals make me want to pound my face against the keyboard. I seriously dont get what people think sometimes.
  2. A perfect example of the "new" Brewers fans that Doug is thankfully ignoring...New Brewer fan?? Think what you want. I have been a brewer fan longer then a lot of people on this board have been alive. I also want playoff appearances, and not pinning my hopes on 4-5 years from now when these "prospects" are at their peak. We have no idea what the Brewers team will look like then. It could be Gamel, Escobar and a bunch of misfits, akin to the Phil Garner and Jerry Royster years. The time to win is NOW. Go for it when you have the chance, you could end up regretting it down the road. If it doesn't work out, at least you did everything you could to make it a reality. This saying kind of fits in this situation :It's better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all. Perfectly stated. It's better to have tried all you could and lose, then to have never tried at all. So you dont trust our scouting department? I mean how anyone can say that this team is going back to the Phil Garner and Jerry Royster years when we have a couple of pieces to build around in Braun and Gallardo along with some nice young hitting coming up in Escobar, Gamel, Salome, Lucroy and Green. Pitching is thin but you trade JJ or Hart or Fielder for nice young pitching. Ive been interested in trading Prince to the Giants for Bumgarner and a couple other pitching prospects they seem to have an abundance of.
  3. And then when Halladay leaves after next year or demands to be traded before the season starts it will take the Brewers longer to get the talent back that they just traded away. This would cause the 20+ years of no playoffs again and you are back where you started but this time you are even worse off.And what IF acquiring Halladay wins you a World Series this year or next?? Then I'd say it was well worth it wouldn't you?? And what IF keeping all those prospects wins a couple World Series also. Then you would say it was well worth keeping them wouldn't you? The desire for immediate gratification is hard to resist even when it defies your better judgment. I'd say there is a better chance of Halladay coming aboard and winning a WS in the next two years with Prince still here then there is in the next 4-5 years relying on untapped potential. You play to win the game. Win now, worry about the future, in the future.Explain to me how Halladay replacing Parra is going to benefit the rotation when we keep trotting out Burns? And that Win now, worry about he future, in the future gets you to the Houston's farm system which is horrific and will ultimitely lead to another 20 years of no playoffs.
  4. Thankfully you dont.
  5. I know right, Im hoping the Brewers finally move Anundsen up there. Im getting frustrated with it, the Brewers seem like they are babying these young arms. Idk its frustrating to me.
  6. Brendan Katin with a bomb to left field to put up the only hit and run on the board for the PCL.
  7. I agree with this. Yes we may lose Prince's but we will gain a better lineup with the prospects coming up. Also I hope Heether replaces Counsell and Irabarren replaces Cat. and see if those guys can thrive as bench players.
  8. Haha thats funny I laughed out loud. Im having serious doubts to even doing this deal. We would have to give up Escobar and most likely Lawrie and it just wouldnt be worth it. Also I heard they are looking for pitching back too and well we all know how the Brewers are developing pitching talent. I say we shouldnt do this trade.
  9. I would love to see him and Peralta in Brevard before the end of the minor league season.
  10. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/jon_heyman/07/03/indians.martinez/1.htmlI just dont know, I have a bad feeling if we get Davis back he is going to blow up and become useless. I wanted to bash my head on the table whenever he was nibbiling always on the corners and walking a ton of guys. I just dont know we will see how he does if we get him.
  11. Wow if this is true it will change everything. I would still go after him with a cheap contract. Also do you have a link for this at all?
  12. What makes you think he isnt a good fielder?
  13. Your the 2nd person I've seen comment that. I'm curious as to what makes you believe that. The Brewers haven't ever been much of a factor their. They've never had a 7 figure signee. Ben Badler, in a recent column where he broke teams into tiers based on there historical involvement their, lumped us in a lower tier of teams he called bargain hunters.Well Im sure he doesnt mean we have to have a 7 figure signee to be active in latin america. Havent we signed at least one the past 2 or 3 seasons? Though I would love for the Brewers to go after that huge upside 7 figure signee but thats just not the way they are with the way they have been in previous years.
  14. Yeah and? Being drafted early means you have alot of talent and usually has a higher ceiling than players drafted later so yeah Im going to follow those guys more closely even if they dont do well right off the bat. Gamel was a 5th round pick and I started following him more closely when he was in A+. I just dont see what the deal is? 10 years ago I wouldnt know what the minor leagues was so I cant answer that question. I also listed guys that where drafted past the first couple rounds too. Also not every kid coming in is going to light the world on fire some take time to get accustomed to the pros so some players I follow is because of the hype and the ceiling they have.
  15. I do think we have a very talented system and may or may not be overvalued depending on someones opinion. AAA - Salome, Escobar are the two people focus on the most as top tier talent but dig deeper and you see some nice role players like Katin, Gillespie, Heether, Irribarren. Cody and Dillard are nice cheap options the Brewers have for the starting rotation along with Swindle and Axford for the pen. AA - Lucroy, Cain and Green highlight this team with the bats, no real role players I see out of these guys. Braddock, Butler, Baron, Hand, Jones and Wooten are a mix of nice starters and bullpen arms. I would love to see Braddock start again but we will see. A+ - Gindl, Schafer, Haydel, Brewers are some of the more notable bats, Coporan and Wilson could become role players for the Brewers. Anundsen, Periard, Rogers, Rivas, Mercedes, Jeffress, Bowman and Aguilar are the pitchers that are interesting on this team. Im still holding out hope we see Peralta in this group and not see Anundsen. A - Lawrie, Dennis, Komatsu, Delaney are the more notable bats in this group with some role players of Kemp, Duran and Fatse. Strong group of pitchers. Peralta, Siedel, Scarpetta, Nieves, Frederickson, Adams, Richie, Tyson, Ohlmann and Watten. I might be view some of these guys higher than others but that is a solid group of starters and bullpen arms. R+ - Garfield, Dykstra, Arias, Zarraga, Prince, Trejo, Davis and Stang are the ones I usually follow out of this team. Arnett, Bucci, Odorizzi, Salmon, Rosario, Morales, Bueno, Krestalude and Currie top the pitching in Helena. R - Walla, George, Roberts, Sizemore, Lind and Halton are the bats out of this group. Pitching we have Billings, Lintz, Wawrzasek, Lasker, Lambertus, Guerrero and Dabrowiecki. Im not going to do the DSL league. This is just my opinion of guys that have some kind of chance to make the Big Leagues either starting or playing a role (or bench) and you will see other peoples opinions differ from mine. Im just REALLY REALLY excited about seeing all these pitchers graduate.
