He probably was left in a guy to long but walking all those guys and wise giving up the double is not on yost. Why does a manager take blame for pitchers not throwing strikes and the bullpen giving up hits. I never really got that. He sits in the dugout and puts guys out there to play. We are not scoring runs and not pitching that great. Tough to win when you don't score many runs.

Then Yost threw a pitch right down the middle?

I'm guessing he told Cappy to start throwing strikes because these were the lowly Nationals. Yep, that one is on Yost. And then he left Cappy in there after that...what a moron.

Not having anyone up in the bullpen or getting anyone up in the bullpen at the first hint of trouble is on Yost though. Not to mention that it is 100 degrees and the bullpen has the next 4 days off. How many games has the exact same thing happened where Yost has sat there with his thumb up his butt with no one up in the pen and his pitcher completely losing it. Its a freaking joke how he uses his pen.

With everything we know and have listed here today (recent DL stint, recent mediocre (generously described) performances from Cappy, heat, humidity, running the bases, all pitchers available, etc., it's unfathomable that even the biggest Yost supporters are defending him in this thread. Cappy allowed six baserunners in that inning, if you hadn't noticed!

It would have been nice to go into the All-Star Break feeling warm and fuzzy with a win. Now we have this bowl of crap to digest until Friday. Yuck.

Capuano did his job. He was cooked. Maybe you don't realize how hot it is? I'm 60 miles from DC. It's unbearable out there. I didn't think 2 minutes about attempting to cut the grass today. Cappy didn't walk those guys deliberately, he was gassed. Ned needed to give the team a chance to win and he failed.

If this were a last place team I'd be calling for them to fire Yost after that, it was ridiculous. You can sort of defend him leaving Capuano out there after the HR, if you really want to be an apologist leaving him after the 2nd walk is fine but after the 3rd walk even my 6 year old would have known to take the pitcher out at that point.

Don't think I've ever been as mad about a manager as I am right now.

Cubs down 3-2 going into the bottom of the 8th. If the Bucs can hold on at least the bowl of crap would have whipped cream and a cherry on top.

Kevin Mench, Rickie Weeks, Tony Graffanino. All right handed hitters, all on the bench, all having a break for the next four days. Is it a rule once a player starts he must play all 9 innings?

Howry comes in and gives up 4 singles giving the Pirates a 3 run lead now and Pinella leaves him in for at least another batter. Did someone forget to tell these managers that the next 3 days are off days?

It's sad that we are getting smoked by a team that has about 4 reserves starting today. Hopefully the Pirates can hold on they have bases loaded against Howry in the bottom of the 8th.

The only thing surprising about Redding's performance today is that he didn't have a season/career high in strikeouts. That seesm to happen more often than not when the Brewers don't light up a guy like that.

Don't konw how anybody can defend Yost today, from the bullpen issue on down to not startgin Jenks against a RH pitcher. Gross, Gwynn, Counsell, Pitcher is a great way to make Redding look good. Granted, with Hall hurt and Weeks being awful there weren't a lot of alternatives, but Jenks not playing against a righty going in to the break makes no sense at all.

And, if I see one more 'favorable schedule in teh second half' post, I will simply refere the poster to the record of this trip and other futility with respect to the Brewers against bad teams (on teh road) and bad pitcher (in general) this season.

They said Jenkins was a late scratch today, so he was intended to start but was unable to.

I don't see Russ in the IGT today, so here's some empirical data on being Yosted... Last year there were only two managers with more Blown Quality Saves (BQS) in all of the Majors, Jerry Narron (CIN) and Eric Wedge (CLE). Ned has a slow hook. I got the numbers from the Baseball Prospectus.

Now I realize today was not a BQS, but it was very close. On a cooler day, it probably would have been cuz Cappy could have lasted one more inning to get Yosted while he was being roasted out there.
