McGehee apparently gets spiked, but luckily stays in the game. Counsell is still the only bench player that's really "available" -- have to wonder how long they can continue to walk the tightrope with such a limited roster. It really stinks that the trade deadline is Saturday, otherwise I think we would've seen Hart put on the DL already.

Thought about this as well the other day. If it was not the deadline Satruday, Hart is on the DL I think.

Actually in this line up I guess 5 is about right. Sad.

The lineup is second in the NL in runs scored. They aren't the Yankees, but it isn't that bad of a lineup.

THIS current line up is not 2nd in the NL in runs scored. Since April, McGehee has OPS'd around .743.

Granted, Hart is not in the lineup. However, who would you move up? That OPS is still better than Escobar, Gomez & Lucroy. Hart fits well at #2. It would be nice to move Rickie to #5, but I'm not sure Escobar or Gomez are ready to move up to the leadoff spot. Maybe Edmonds could bat fifth when healthy, but that's unlikely before year end. McGehee is probably a middle of the pack 3B, but I don't see a materially better choice hitting 5th or that the lineup is not one of the better ones in the NL.

edit: Add ending

I would rather have Hart hitting 5th. Fielder is getting nothing to hit with runners in scoring position with McGehee behind him. Happened again today where they pitched around Fielder to get to McGehee.

Maybe Gallardo should bat fifth when he starts.

I hear what your saying, I'm just a little reluctant to move Gomez or Escobar up into the 2 spot at this point. Hart has been killing it at #2 as well. He can use his speed a little too. If he was behind Prince on the basepaths he might wind up lapping him.

Reds broadcasters (Thom Brennaman) mentioned something pretty funny a couple innings ago.

Joe Inglett went 0-5 with 3k at the plate. And threw a scoreless/hitless inning

Yovanni Gallardo gave up 10 hits in 2.2 innings and hit a 3 run home run.

Sure wish Cain was up, he would be playing since Hart and Edmonds are both hobbled.

I'm not convinced he would be.
