Where is Domingo's Power?

Interesting to note that when healthy, 2018 Thames is at worst a wash to 2017 Santana. Makes the hill to climb to get back to the majors here even larger.

We may have to eat it, and trade him as a "change of scenery" guy.

Baseball is a funny game.

Is Domingo basically gone now? The Domingo we know?

A .260 hitter with zero power and average D (that's being nice) is useless in the outfield...

Not sure what happened to him but... if he has yet to show anything in Colorado Springs... what the heck?

He'll get chances but likely his days as a Brewer are over. I can't see them offering him arbitration after this lost season.

What would his arbitration number be? Won't that be his first year? Maybe $1.5-2 million at best.

If he stays in the minors the rest of the year, he may not have enough service time to get arbitration. He is at 2.079 and you need around 2.132 to reach arbitration. Of course he is out of options next year, so it may not matter.

Broxton is in the same boat for service time and options next year.

There's 3 options.

1. The man completely forgot how to hit.

2. It's a mental thing, as others suggested. He came into spring thinking he really had to prove himself to remain a starter, pressed too much and developed some bad habits.

3. He is injured and we don't know it.

I doubt it's 1. 3 seems like if it were true at some point news would have got out by now. Leaves option 2...let's just hope this offseason he gets his head on straight and plays like he did last year. I would hate to sell so low on him.

The issue is, right field was never really in question. It was always Santana's to lose. Braun wasn't going to move there, and we've all seen now how Yelich's arm in RF is a liability. I have no doubt it is a mental thing. And that sucks, because the guy arguably has more talent than anyone on the roster.

I wouldn't place any bets saying that the Brewers are done with him, though. I imagine he'll be back in the bigs at some point. I just hope that is because he earned it, and not because the team didn't have another choice.

I agree with you that RF shouldn't have been in question, but putting myself in Domingo's place I can see why had doubts. The club obviously got Cain and Yelich to be starters, leaving he and Braun to fight it out for 1 starting spot. With Braun's contract he wasn't going to get benched or traded leaving Santana as the odd man out no matter how unfair that might be. I had a lot of high hopes for him this year, I really hope he gets it together as every year I find it a little more difficult to justify Braun's spot on the squad.

3-run bomb tonight.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Santana just hit his second homer of the night.

Awesome! Getting good Domingo back would go a long way toward fotifying the lineup.

Returning back to himself, hopefully...

Yep. Lets see him sustain it for a week, then get that hot bat back in Milwaukee. I don't even care if he's getting a Colorado Springs hitting bump tonight. His good has been so few and far between this season, I'll take it.

Not trying to be a buzzkill, but where do we play him?

In right field where a guy like Thames doesn’t belong.

So where does Braun play? CC isn't going to bench him completely, just not going to happen. Braun will mess this roster up for the next 2.5 years, and there isn't anything that we can do about it.

Say Santana rakes from this point on, we are going to keep Braun and Thames on the bench?

It's a good problem to have if that is the case, but putting CC in that situation could be interesting.

Just like before, there’s plenty of at bats to be had. The Brewers were at a point of having Perez as their starting RF. Beyond ridiculous.

Simple fact of the matter is that Braun no longer has a place or purpose for this team, yet we are 100% stuck with him. His presence alone does nothing but screw up the roster on a daily basis. It's no secret he'll be on and off the DL forever, but at this time, the DL is where he helps us the most.

I'm a Braun fan, but the writing is on the wall.

Braun gets blamed for a lot of things but this may take the cake.

Where is his power? Holed up in rat infested motel with a crack-addicted hooker as far as I can tell. Seriously though, I hope this is the beginning of a turn around. They really do need a guy who can stay healthy and be productive.

The Braun thing? This might be the beginning of the end. Wish it would end better than the constant trips to the DL. How many All-Star type baseball players today would want to spend their entire career in Milwaukee. For that alone I’m will to forgive him his faults.

I'm a Braun fan, but the writing is on the wall.

Bruan ranks 1st or 2nd on the team in *every* statcast category. He's 2nd on the team, and 36th overall in MLB, in avg exit velocity while also leading the team in barrel percentage all while having a BABIP 70-100pts lower than Cain/Yelich/Aguilar. He could very easily be hitting 50pts higher than he is. You, and others, speak of him as if he's swinging the bat like Arcia was. The Brewers are 34-20 when he starts and 21-23 when he doesn't. Braun's also a 5 DRS in LF vs Yelich 1 (who has 14 more innings there too).

Back to the thread topic. So where did Santana find his power? Couch cushions or between the seats of his car? Pretty common places to lose things

Beginning to think they should just call up Santana and Arcia to start the second half.

After the Machado bust, the Hader tweets, the Hader 3-run bomb in ASG, Aguilar first round bow out in HR Derby, the losing streak, the 5 game sweep.........

I'm willing to try anything.

Time to sacrifice a live chicken Pedro Cerano style!
