Villar to DL (thumb); Phillips up

Any bets as to whether the Brewers will have a new middle infield option by the time Villar returns from the disabled list? I’ll guess it’s more likely than not.

Just seven Brewers have been on the major league roster all season and avoided the DL so far:

Chacin

Hader

Jennings

Jeffress

Aguilar

Perez

Shaw

I can't remember another season like this. Ever.

Jeeze. Anyone else wanna go on the dl before the all star game?

At least these DL trips are happening when we are about to not play for awhile. A good chunk of a minimum DL trip will be the break.

Probably the new normal with the 10-day DL.

With Saturday's base running, Villar should be gone.

For that? It was a poor baserunning decision, happens. In no way did it affect the outcome. Not like he got caught in a 9th inning rundown and ended up costing us the game.

4 RBI day and a week from now Phillips will probably be back in AAA (or playing for the Orioles) and Perez will be starting in RF and hitting 5th in the lineup.

With that logic, should Cain be gone too? His decision to steal 3rd today wasn't too wise either, especially when Yelich had a base hit the same at bat that would have scored Cain from 2nd.

Those are the type of comments you make when you already have your mind made up that you don't like a player.

Regarding Phillips, glad to see him have a great game yesterday. He's been spinning his wheels at AAA, and probably didn't deserve the call-up. But the talent is obviously there, and if he can cut down his K rate, he can be an extremely valuable and useful player, especially if Santana continues to do his poor Billy Hamilton impression.

Phillips had a good game yesterday. Let's hope he doesn't contract whatever bug is that is preventing the rest of the lineup from getting hits when we have RISP...
