inf andruw monasterio minor league deal; non-roster invitee

the brewers have signed andruw monasterio to a minor league contract and have invited him to spring training.

 

he has yet to appear on a 40-man roster, and therefore, has three minor league options intact.

 

he is the second non-roster invitee for 2022 spring camp.

24 years old. Had a good year last year with a line of .287/.371/.441/.812, but hasn't been very good for his seven-year minor league career with a line of .262/.339/.345/.684 in 1,877 AB.

Monasterio is a good depth piece.

 

I suspect he has more talent in there able to be tapped into/ released, but the CLE farm system is over-loaded with middle INF types that have been moved all over the diamond in an attempt to get meaningful development and playing time..
