pop-up ads

Is anyone else getting a popup ad when logging in to the fan forum? (after you click Login and before being prompted for username and password)

It just started happening to me in the last couple of days. I assume it's an ezboard thing, but I'm already sick of it.

Are you getting this both at home and at work?

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Along that line, is there supposed to be a banner of Google ads across the bottom of each forum page?

Maybe ezboard hates me and is singling me out. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

Edit: I tried a "public" machine here at the library (set up to not retain browser history) and also got the popup ad. It's almost always for Vonage.

My work IE has popup blocker, but it looks like it did get one. I can see the google ads as well.

I don't think it was my doing, but I never see google ads on the site in Opera. I do however get a "popup blocked" notification when I visit the login page.

I see neither a popup nor a blocked popup notification in Firefox; that could be because of pretty aggressive ad-blocking or the fact that I don't allow javascript unless I whitelist a site. (Brewerfan.net is whitelisted, but other sites bf.net might access likely aren't.)

I do see the blocked popup notification in SeaMonkey. I tried Opera; there wasn't a popup, but I'm not sure what the blocked popup notification looks like.

I believe the Google Ads belong here as a (small) source of income for this site. In my case, they're probably getting caught in whatever the ad-blockers are trying to do on my end. (I never purposely block anything on Brewerfan.net, but I do know some ads get 'caught'.)

I'm getting the same thing as Hawing. It happens everytime I go to the user sign-in screen. I noticed it starting a few days ago. And, like Hawing said, it's usually for Vonage.

I'm using IE right now. It usually blocks mosts pop-ups, but not this one for some reason.

Ok, i'm seeing the popup now. My guess is that it's ezBoard's way of "maximizing revenue". I would recommend using a popup blocker on those.

The ads at the bottom of the page are my way of trying to earn some money. Hopefully they're not too much of an eyesore.

Not a problem. Besides, in this thread they all advertise for popup blockers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Part of my agreement is that I'm not allowed to say if it does or doesn't help to click on them.

Which of course our take away from that should be that Google tries to prevent click through fraud, but yes, clicking helps. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

There shouldn't be any popups here... Is anyone else getting them?

I am also getting the Vonage pop-up every time I log into the site.

I'm at home and using Firefox.
