Jason Lane to Padres for PTBNL and $ (for a whole week!)

My understanding was that he had to at least be in the organization by Aug 31 for that to happen.

Because no matter how many injuries the Brewers had, Ray King couldn't be on our playoff roster, right?

New GM Ed Wade demanded and received three fish tacos with grouper for Lane, rather than the tilapia the Padres offered. "We get grouper or we walk," said the veteran Wade. The Padres buckled.

Since both Cameron and Bradley are injured Lane could be added to the playoff roster.
I think that loophole existed in the past, but I also think it was closed after the Angels used it during their World Series season. The article linked in the lead post says Lane won't be eligible.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

From Jerry Crasnick's latest article (the same one linked in the other thread about Yost):

General manager Kevin Towers tried to fill the short-term void Monday by picking up Jason Lane from Houston. Lane has a .367 career average against Ben Sheets, Yovani Gallardo, David Bush, and Jeff Suppan, the four starters that San Diego will face this weekend in its season-ending series in Milwaukee, so look for him to see action against the Brewers.

I read somewhere that Peavy is pitching Weds so unless they bring him back on 3 days rest we will miss him.

Probably won't make any difference but I thought it was worth noting.

They tried to pitch him on 3 days rest earlier this month and he got knocked around(8 earned runs) and lasted only 4 innings.
