The game write-up is rather all-encompassing, so I won’t add much here.
The bullpen of RHPs Kevin Herget, Blake Holub, rehabbing Devin Williams and Janson Junk were the story of Game One, conceding just one single over 4 1/3 scoreless innings to allow the 3-run error in the 2nd inning stand up.
Rehabbing starting LHP DL Hall allowed 2 runs on 3 singles, 2 walks and an HBP in 2 2/3 IP, but didn’t cough up the lead. The position player “star” was rehabbing C Gary Sanchez, who reached base twice (walk, HBP) and threw out two attempted base stealers.
Two 1st inning balls hit over 100mph (single, 2-run homer) off starting LHP Aaron Ashby (3 1/3 IP, 7 R, 4 H, 5 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks) set the tone for Game 2, with Nashville never recovering.
Before things got out of hand, Nashville had failed to cash in on opportunities in the 3rd (bases loaded, 1 out) and 4th innings (2-on, 1 out), with Manager Rick Sweet also sent to the bus early.
Nine straight balls (HBP, 2 walks) to start the bottom of the 4th inning was apparently not enough for Ashby to be pulled, as he faced 3 more batters (ground out, double, 4-pitch walk) before giving way to RHP Harold Chirino.
Sounds’ Extras:
- In the opening game, neither team produced an extra-base hit, while the Sounds went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position yet still held on for victory.
- SS Vinny Capra (single, walk) and 3B Owen Miller (single, HBP) each reached base twice in the second game, with right fielder Brewer Hicklen collecting the Sounds’ only extra-base hit (double).
- Rehabbing RHP Easton McGee’s first AAA appearance since April 2023 was reasonably encouraging. He conceded a double and single in Game Two before retiring 6 of the next 7 batters.
Next week’s outlook: Nashville (50-46) returns home to face White Sox affiliate Charlotte (43-50), with RHP Garrett Stallings expected to start in Tuesday’s series opener.
Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Montgomery 4, Biloxi 1

Per the game link, starting RHP Logan Henderson (5 1/3 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 4 H, 1 BB, 8 Ks) retired 14 straight hitters at one point, but Biloxi themselves were no-hit through 7 innings and never got the potential game-tying run to the plate.
Credit RHP Sam Carlson with stranding two baserunners for Henderson in the 6th inning, then working around a little trouble in the 7th inning.
C Nick Kahle produced the team’s only run, while 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. singled and walked.
Shuckers’ Extras:
- After nearly 2 months of injury recovery, it was great to see RHP Sam Gardner (1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks) back in AA ball. RHP Will Childers (1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 Ks) also contributed a scoreless inning.
-
Henderson crossed up opposing hitters a few times in this game:
Next week’s outlook: Biloxi (44-44) hits the road to take on Marlins’ affiliate Pensacola (49-40) for six games, commencing on Tuesday.
Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Wisconsin 5, Cedar Rapids 3
Box Score and Game Log
Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Wisconsin Works Its Way to a Win
3B Luke Adams can hit the ball a mile, but showed in this game that he doesn’t even need a bat to positively tilt the outcome. After HBPs, he scored the tying run in the 4th inning, then a key insurance run on Cedar Rapids’ 2-run error to give Wisconsin a 4-2 lead in the 6th inning.
The Timber Rattlers’ pitching staff led by RHP Will Rudy (4 2/3 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 6 Ks) worked through traffic all game, with the Kernels going 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
RHP Patricio Aquino faced the minimum over the 7th and 8th innings (aided in the 7th by a double play started by Adams) before RHP Bayden Root worked around a one-out single for the save.
Ramon Rodriguez (solo homer), 2B Eduardo Garcia (RBI double) and SS Jadher Areinamo (RBI single or double - depending on the official scoring) produced 3 of Wisconsin’s 4 hits.
Timber Rattlers’ Extras:
- RHP Yerlin Rodriguez wasn’t at his best (single, 2 walks, 2 HBPs, 2 Ks in 1 1/3 IP), but did manage to strand two baserunners for Rudy and earn the Win.
- Adams now has 26 HBPs (a team record per the game link above) and 22 stolen bases on the season.
Next week’s outlook: Wisconsin (58-31) stays on the road to take on Marlins’ affiliate Beloit (43-44), with RHP Alexander Cornielle (2.78 ERA) scheduled to start the opening game on Tuesday.

Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Carolina Sweeps Lynchburg In Doubleheader
The first game of the day picked up Saturday’s suspended contest from the 4th inning, tied 3-3 and with both teams seeing golden opportunities pass them by until Carolina finally scratched the winning run across on a game-ending error.
RHP Bishop Letson (3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 6 Ks) put up a respectable line, bearing down to escape a 2nd and 3rd, nobody out situation in the top of the 6th inning (ground out, 2 Ks).
From there, RHP Dikember Sanchez got the job done (2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 Ks), working around a 7th inning double, then getting two assists himself in the 8th inning.
After failing to cash in in the 4th (bases loaded, nobody out), 5th (walk, double, no runs), 6th (same as the 5th) and 7th innings (leadoff DH Cooper Pratt triple, didn’t score), Lynchburg’s second baseman mercifully threw past first base to allow Yhoswar Garcia to score the winning run.
SS Pratt’s first pitch, 2-run homer in the 1st inning of the second game was enough offense for starting RHP Josh Timmerman (3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 2 Ks) and the bullpen to work with.
Timely pitches and defense were key, as Timmerman worked around two 1st inning singles and three 3rd inning walks. Timmerman, LHP Anfernny Reyes and RHP Morris Austin induced ground ball double plays to end the 3rd, 4th and 7th innings.
Mudcats’ Extras:
- In the second game, DH Yophery Rodriguez reached base all 3 times up (2 singles, walk), while CF Garcia doubled, walked and stole 2 bases.
- In that same contest, RHP Brailin Rodriguez retired 4 of 5 batters faced after allowing an RBI single in relief of Reyes.
Next week’s outlook: Carolina (53-35) heads to Virginia to battle Red Sox affiliate Salem (48-42).
