Breakdown
The Brewers started their week with a home stand against the Pirates. Game one would see the Pirates jump out to an early lead behind Mitch Keller, and despite a late comeback effort from Milwaukee, they’d take game one. Games two and three would be won by the Brewers behind Joe Ross and Robert Gasser. The offense would put up ten runs in game three, including three hits from William Contreras.
Milwaukee would then travel to Houston after an off-day Thursday, beginning their longest road trip of the regular season. A three-run homer from Jeremy Peña would sink the Brewers in game one, with Freddy Peralta being saddled with the loss. A three-run homer from William Contreras after a 13-pitch at-bat would be the difference maker in game two, as the club would beat Justin Verlander to even up the series. The rubber match saw Colin Rea get off to a slow start, giving up four runs in the first inning, and didn’t make it past the 5th inning. The Brewer’s offense would chip away, but the bullpen was unable to keep the Astros offense down.
