  1. What's the big deal? They have played in Huntsville the last several years without a working video board and a scoreboard no better than an average high school.
  2. Nice AA debut for Michael Strong tonight. 4 IP - 0 H - 1 BB - 6 K.
  3. It was his 23rd game (21st start) for the Stars?

  6. De La Cruz last night became the 750th Huntsville Star (416th as a Brewer affiliate, 1999-2013).
  7. http://i.imgur.com/r5N5m7a.gif Very good! Obviously the only thing Mr. Kling knows about Wrigley is that it is old. The Joe has no personality at all and (unless they have fixed/upgraded since last season) a high school scoreboard. 3 AL ROY? Has he even been to the stadium since the A's left? Has he heard of Braun? And none of them were there because Joe Davis Stadium drew them there ... The Joe is more like the Oakland Coliseum (Mauseleum?) than Wrigley. We still will go when we can just to see some good baseball but would rather go catch the Stars when they are in B'ham, Chattanooga, Montgomery or Mississippi.
  8. Thanks, Mass Haas. Since Dunn is one of the Huntsville players I haven't been able to find a card of, I was hoping he was still playing somewhere.
  9. Jameson Dunn? I remember some injury troubles but missed any release/retirement news.

  12. I don't specifically collect Brewers cards but I do have minor league cards of 725 of the 730 players who have appeared with the Huntsville Stars. I have cards of all 53 Seattle Pilots (although the Billy Williams card is as a coach for the 1989 Canton Indians). I have cards of players from favorite teams I pulled for in the Series in my youth - '65 Twins, '66 Oriloes, '67 Red Sox, '68 Tigers, '69 Mets, '70 Orioles, '71 Pirates, '72-'74 A's, etc. I have full Topps sets put back for my son starting with the year he was born ('77) until he turned 20. I figured he could get them himself after that ... Now I'm doing the same thing for my grandson, born in '02. My other son was born in '81 and I got Fleer sets for him starting that year until they dropped out of the full-set market. I've got lots of Huntsville Stars souvenir stuff - bats, helmets, caps, mitts, schedules, team pix... Many cards signed by Stars players, a couple of team signed mini-helmets, a team signed program and more. All of my autographs are personal. My favorites from Huntsville are Braun, Gallardo, Sheets and some favorite players that never made it big (Jared Mathis, Derek Lee, etc.). I've not even tried to get any the last few years. I've also been lucky enough to meet and get cards signed by Brooks Robinson, Lou Brock, Earl Weaver, Dale Murphy and others. I met Nolan Ryan in the museum at Arlington, Tx Stadium. I didn't have a card with me but he signed the museum pamphlet I had.
  13. The writer of that article has it figured like I do. I think the Brewers only choice will be Huntsville and that's good with me since I perfer a National League team and Brewerfan.net is such a great resource. I doubt if the Mariners have anything online that comes close to this.
  14. I've seen a report that Miami and Jacksonville have re-upped. Hard to believe that Akron and Cleveland won't do the same. Just my opinion, but I think Arkansas is holding all the cards - they should be able to get the best offer from the Angels/Mariners/Brewers, the two left over will make a run at Jackson and Huntsville will get the last one standing.
  15. Hosey entertained the crowd after last night's home finale...
  16. I wonder if that is a league rule or a team rule that drew the fine.
  17. In his 8th Minor League season, this will be the first time Baker has appeared for two teams in the same season. In 7 previous seasons, he has had no mid-season promotions or demotions, always has spent the full season with the team he started it with. I don't know but I'll bet that hasn't happened for very many players over that long of a career.
  18. We went to the Sounds game, our first of the year. A couple of things I wondered about ... Does Dabney always coach 1st base for the Sounds? I've never seen a team use their pitching coach there but he did it for the whole game. Also, will Hand ever get a shot with the Brewers? Do you think he could make it with any other big league team?
  19. We were at the last Stars game of the season and Statia was taken out of the stadium in an ambulance after being hurt on a slide into second base. Any updates on the nature of the injury? Miranda tweeted something the next day about Statia being scheduled for surgery but that was the last I heard about it.
  20. From the last couple of articles .... "I refuse to believe people don't know (baseball) is here," O'Conner said. "I refuse to believe people don't like baseball. I think people have made a conscious decision that this is a place they prefer not to be and to spend their summer." ...and ... "The Stars' front office would have you believe Mother Nature has been at fault for attendance woes throughout the last several years. That's like blaming the nation's economic meltdown on a busted ATM machine. Huntsville hardly is the only team in the league to have dealt with consistent heat mixed with frequent rain. It lost more dates than any other team mostly because it was ill-equipped to handle rain, because of a short staff and porous tarp." "As the Stars announced Monday's cancellation, it was noted they'll open the 2012 season on Sunday, April 15. The extended forecast is 70 percent chance of rain, with widely scattered apathy." Mr. O'Conner and Mr. McCarter sum it up rather nicely. Sure, there are a few folks who have just started attending games in the last year or two and they seem to tnjoy it but those of us who have been going to games simce 1985 know that Huntsville is now a bush-league operation. We attended 4 games this year, the fewest since the team came here in 1985 and by FAR the fewest in the last 20 years. We went to Birmingham to see the Barons play Chattanooga and went to Nashville for one game. Right now, based on our experiences at the Joe over the last 3 years, I don't know if we will attend any games there in 2012 unless there is a major shake-up in local management ... and a scoreboard that is at least as good as what we had before they ever installed the video screen.
  21. I guess Mark had a deadline to make and missed the end of last night's game? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Huntsville TV station is quoting Hunter Morris' high school coach as saying Morris has been promoted to the Stars. No confirmation from the team, though.
  23. I know what the boxscore says but the only two caught-stealing I saw were pickoffs by Narron and the outs went 1-3-6, Kottaras wasn't involved.
  24. I put up a few pictures from today's game in Nashville - http://www.facebook.com/m...4305612&l=60971c52be
