  1. Dare I ask if he is 6'1" or under.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  2. But, we don't have a second round pick because of the FA acquisition of Damian Miller, right?
  3. If Money has Bibbs and Gwynn at the top of the lineup(remember, both are OF's), he might very well have the light on power, high on speed type of team he seems to cherish. For those of you in Alabama who aren't familiar with Don, he isn't bashful about utilizing the running game.
  4. Didn't mean to "rain on your parade" pohlman. Just trying to maintain my status as TGJ's most beloved admirer within this site.
  5. I would be disappointing colby if I didn't mention that the autographed TGJ bat wouldn't get you enough to pay for the broadcasts mentioned within this thread. If you look at it closely, I'm sure you will find the "sweetspot" that enabled him to drive so many balls into the street outside the third base stands in Beloit.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. I didn't see anyone take note of the Hurricane going 2 for 2 in the loss. He just keeps swinging the magic wand.
  7. Off topic slightly, I sat two rows behind Ed Garvey and his family at the last Brewers game at County Stadium.
  8. That sounds cool! They didn't offer that course at UW-W 20 years ago.
  9. As much as I dislike him as a hitter, he is a very instinctive outfielder. He doesn't have Krynzel's ability in the field, but few do. By no means, would TGJ be held back on account of his defense.
  10. Comparing batting practice to live pitching is nuts. What is the object of batting practice...ALLOW the person to hit the ball. Such is not the case in a game. Bill Hall put on a BP at Wrigley Field last year I will never forget(hit the apartment building across the street on the fly), but I don't think he will be mistaken for Jeff Kent. Gwynn CANNOT pull the ball with any authority in game conditions. I made two trips to Huntsville last year and he was played the same way on each trip--shallow and toward left field. He had hits taken away from him in left center due to the "depth" of the outfield. His AFL numbers didn't shock me in the least. Playing him against the best was a certain setup for failure. What all of this has to do with golf or slow pitch softball(where the object is basically screaming at you to hit it, rather than avoiding you) is beyond me.
  11. Talk about a patronizining remark. He has a good swing, but just misses(repeatedly)...give me a break. He is always behind the fastball and can be played at little league depth. Yes, he is an excellent defender, but his bat will hold him back. With our present outfield depth within the organization, we would be wise to trade him while someone perhaps thinks his lineage will translate to success on the field. How many major league hits does Pete Rose Jr. have? As far as Murray is concerned, TGJ is twice the player he is. Murray has no range and can't even hit low class A pitching. He is as good as gone.
  12. I never get too excited about indy league guys. When you figure the number of available minor league teams, a guy usually isn't with a major league affiliate for a reason. However, I will admit we got some decent miles out of Shelley and Bausher.
  13. Simon had a very erratic year. He didn't do so poorly you would give up on him, but not so well that a few Aussie outings automatically throw him in the Power 50. He gave up too many dingers(nine) and walks(50) over 92 innings for just low A. Slightly in his defense, he never had a defined role with the Snappers. He is a kid you can't help but root for. He is an extremely likeable guy. Between the accent, demeanor and looks, he has my 13 year old daughter's eyes and heart.
  14. This has Joel Alvarado written all over it. Someone evidently doesn't think really highly of our catching depth at the lower levels.
  15. Saw him pitch against the Indy Indians last year. He is just a warm body, like an Erdos or Farnsworth.
