  1. I just saw the report on the local news cast, and just read the article at jsonline. I emailed several newspaper sites down in Florida (Tampa, Orlando, Sarasota) and only Tampa wrote back. (Orlando must not care, Sarasota must be dreaming about the Red Sox). The person who emailed me back said that the Brewers had indeed taken a trip down to check out sites but nothing at any point was serious. The person said that the Brewers have had feelers out but don't seem to be in any rush to make any sort of serious inquiries until late in the year if ever. So while I don't think they are anywhere as serious about moving as some on this topic believe, I also think Doug Melvin is lying. So the truth is probably in the middle. Now watch like obsessedwithbrewcrew said tomorrow they will announce they are moving to Florida.
  2. I agree about TH. The biggest statement there was "that I know of". I, like Patrick, want to get to the bottom of this and not worry about what un-named sources are saying, not that I don't believe madtown or the others but it puts much more buzz into it if it is a known source. I have emailed writers from the Tampa Tribune, to the Sarasota publication, and the small Lakeland/Auburndale/Winter Haven paper. I just don't think TH has any interest in following the story which is his choice I guess. I know one thing, no matter what side of the fence you sit on, if you dismiss this topic just because then you are making a huge mistake. I don't think so many people would be talking about this if it was just false.
  3. The Ryan Braun signing makes the next move the big one. If Corey Hart signs a big deal I don't know if there is enough there to sign Prince, or they become a beer league softball team because I don't know if there will be enough cash to sign some arms.
  4. Patrick, I went ahead and I clicked on the link you provided. I then found a link to contact the editors of the site to ask them about the Milwaukee Brewers and moving. I was then directed to check out another one of their sites baseball digest which had reported what madtown has reported and even in a little more detail saying they met extra longer with Vero Beach officials. And they confirmed that the Brewers have an out in their lease with the City of Phoenix that they can move in 2010.
  5. The way I look at it is that Madtown knows way to many small details that have come out later on, like the whole Bonita Springs wanting a team, and the Baltimore Orioles details that I haven't seen reported anywhere else until days later. I have family that live in the Winter Haven area and the Sarasota area and they are well aware Auburndale wants a team also. I guess I don't need to see everything in print before I believe it. All the puzzle pieces fit for a team moving over to Florida from Arizona since the Reds, Dodgers, and Indians are all on the move. MLB can say all they want about not worrying about odd number of teams but it does create a scheduling nightmare with the new rule that was put into place about playing a certain amount of MLB starters in a game that people paid money for. Vero Beach isn't going to be without a team like I read before because of their the most know site in baseball. Sarasota seems determined to get a team in. You can choose to believe what you want, that is your right. You can choose to try to disclaim a person like Madtown, that is your right. But if you do that you should also think outside the box and think objectively about whether the puzzle pieces fit. There is a old saying my grandpa always said, "where there is smoke there is usually fire." In this case there are more then a few people seeing smoke to believe there might be something to it.
  6. I agree with Madtown and the term makes sense because I want top level prospects that have proven to be top level prospects. As far as what the value of Prince Fielder and Ben Sheets are, it is hard. I wouldn't do either of those trades. I did some googling of those prospects and I think you need more then that from both teams. Your Fielder for Clayton Kershaw, I doubt the Dodgers would do it but I think that is about what the Brewers would ask for and which is also why Fielder is going to remain with the Brewers for a long, long time.
  7. Not to stir up trouble but I have relatives that live near Sarasota and the talk of the Brewers coming to town is all over. I think most people think it is a fore gone conclusion that it is going to happen. The city council has already approved the funding for improvements to the current stadium. I like the idea because I will have a free place to stay when I come down there to watch Brewers baseball.
  8. The errors are not the problem with Rohlinger. He has made more great plays this year then he has bad. Luke Knuppenburg, pitched a 4 hit shutout Saturday and continues to dominate. 2-0 in 3 starts. Just doesn't get run support.
  9. I think you're nuts...he is nowhere near a headcase. Headcase and Ryan Rohlinger is so much of a polor opposite it isn't even close. He was suspended 1 game his senior year for going to play in the area code baseball games and missing 3 practices to play in that game. It had nothing to do with him being a headcase. The kid was a captain that year. He was the WIAA scholar athlete of the year. He was the validvictorian at East. He was the PRIDE person of the year. He ran the West Bend Rec Department Youth baseball deprartment during the summer from 01-03. So headcase he is not. He is the captain at Oklahoma. I think you are thinking of the wrong kid. Everyone that has ever run into Ryan will tell you he is the most humble and repectful individuals you will ever meet with the attention that he gets. You'd be pretty hard pressed to even get it out of him who he was or where he plays ball. I am sure Blazer can attest since he coached him in club ball and it was his team that Ryan was on to get him suspended that one game.
  10. With Rohlinger being in the Cape Cod League last year and being the MVP and on the Allstar team does that make him more attractive to get him in the top 10 rounds. And I also heard he may play some third at Oklahoma this year. If he can play all 3 spots on the infield that will improve his draft stock.
  11. Who are the top kids from Wisconsin this year? The only people I have been hearing about this year are the same bunch I have been hearing last summer. Oklahoma SS Ryan Rohlinger 6'0" 195 lbs. Junior R/R Concordia-Wisconsin OF Adam Rohlinger 6'2" 180 lbs. Senior L/L Concordia-Wisconsin P Luke Knuppenburg 6'5" 225 lbs. Senior R/L Michigan 3B Kyle Bohm 6'3" 210 Senior R/R Lakeside Lutheran P Jeff Maurer 6'4" 190 lbs. High School R/R Sauk Prairie P Steve Hedgepath 6'3" 220 lbs. High School R/R And I am sure I am missing more.
