  1. Check this out. I was rolling on the floor last night just listening to Harry Carey's interview of the Mavs Mike Kusiewicz from the grave. Harry and Kusiewicz
  2. www.hdmavs.com report on Candy being placed on restricted list and Indy guy moving to HD. Jamie Gann signed by Huntsville www.bridgeportbluefish.co...s/Gann.htm If I was Dan Boyd I would be furious. Shouldn't the Brewers sign a 3b for HD? Farnsworth can't hit or field a lick and now Candy is gone...
  3. I was at the Home Run Derby and All Star Game yesterday and though the wind might have been blowing none of Travis' homers were truly aided by it. The reason is the wind was blowing out to LEFT FIELD, meaning it would actually knock down his drives to right. The most impressive shots of the night were hit by Potomac's Tony Blanco who hit a couple shots that might still be going, but Travis came through in the clutch both during the derby and again during the game. The Mavericks actually stole the show as Travis was easily the MVP, with a pair of rbis, a run scored and even a Stolen base and Callix put on a strong performance turning a pair of double plays and hitting the run scoring triple off the right field wall.
  4. I have seen Callix play this year in person for most of the Mavs games and defensively he has been one of the better defensive players on the roster. It was the one part of his game that we were worrying about when we saw his numbers from Beloit, but he has definately been a very pleasant surprise. He has made numerous diving stops in the hole and is probably the one infielder (since Ozzie moved to AA) that doesn't have our fans with their hearts in their throats when the ball is hit at them. As far as Hendo is concerned he definately will be succesful wherever life takes him as he is already a fan fave here in the Desert. His pickoff move is ridiculous and I am pretty sure he is throwing in the mid to high 80s, but has been very up and down from game to game.
  5. This may be a good omen as the Mavs have won the last couple of openers and obviously haven't done very well afterwards. Switch up the Karma and they very well might have a good summer. Mavs gave up 4 homers, but the one pitcher that definately impressed was the newcomer Glenn Woolard whose knuckle curve looked nasty. I can see him working his way into the starting rotation as soon as Queenie and JC have watched him pitch for a couple of weeks. Offensively the Mavs are going to be exciting on the basepaths this year and hopefully as the guys settle in to the Cal League the bats will come alive. A couple more Ks than you would like to see and the wind is definately going to take a little time for the guys to get used to, but all in all not a bad opener for the guys. I believe Eric Henderson will be getting the nod for the Mavs tomorrow nightt, and hopefully all the broadcast bugs will be worked out so you guys will have the pleasure of listening to Roxy broadcast tomorrow night.
