  1. Jeffress hit 101 last week so I hope nobody is actually considering giving up on him.
  2. In my opinion, chalk that one up as a columnist not being very informed. No way they were going to push this guy up to Low A that quick. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start in Arizona this year and Helena next year.
  3. Little change. There were five released today, as this site shows. There will likely be another cut, and assignments still aren't completely set.
  4. They will be assigned today. Not sure when it will be released.
  5. Today is a big day. There will be some sad faces in the locker room today.
  6. Redman did bat .318 his last year with the Orioles and has a .281 life-time average. I'd hardly call that crap as a majority of big leaguers would love to have that average,
  7. Costello was a little under the weather. He was still good though. Had a botched double play that was ruled a hit that would have gotten him out of the inning without giving up a run.
  8. Honestly, if that is the case forget putting him on the 40-man roster. Get him the proper help for his problem. Don't be an enabler. Do you think the MLB is one big Maybury?
  9. Because he's 21 and he tops out at 98. His control hasn't always been a problem. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the 40-man next year.
  10. If you can't look at the 2008 draft class and see where the pitching will come from then I don't know what to say. From reading this board, it seems that if a pitcher wasn't drafted in the top three rounds, there is no hope. I don't get it. What if the 20th pick got more than the 4th pick? Does that make the 20th pick the better prospect? Also, everybody that has already marked off Jeffress is crazy.
  11. I wouldn't quite say that. He's played his entire life pretty much and has always been at or near the top of his league. He and Billings played on the same state championship team when they were 10. He's a tremendous athlete and probably would have made a great football player too.
  12. Can't judge a pitcher's performance by looking at a box score (most of the time) especially milb.com rookie league. I'm not even sure how qualified their scorekeepers are. From what I can tell, they can't judge a wild pitch from a pass ball and an error from a hit most of the time. Billings gave up two maybe three earned runs last night and was in position to not give up any. Two of the doubles were swinging bunts that got chopped over the third baseman's head. The triple was literally kicked into the gap by the centerfielder. He's a better pitcher right now than he was last summer with a 2.25 ERA. The staff is still really high on him.
  13. Autin Wood. 169 pitches. He threw 12 1/3 no hit innings that game (13 total). Taken by Detroit in the 5th round.
  14. Didn't realize Krestalude's time in Brevard was going to be that short. Interesting.
