  1. I can't say for certain, but coming from a Toronto fan I do not believe that we have any interest in Parra. We already have Romero, Cecil and Rzepczynski who are all lefties in our rotation. Not to mention we drafted 2 lefties high this year, the last thing we need is more left handed pitching. What we do need are infield prospects because we have none that are remotely close.
  2. I can't speak for him, but he resigned with Toronto twice at below market deals. He doesn't need the big cities or the large media exposure. I can't see him having a problem with the city of Milwaukee. I think the only way he wouldn't accept a trade there is if he didn't think your team was good enough to make the playoffs.
  3. FYI you shouldn't be using the Mets rumor as a basis for a Halladay trade. I don't have a link but Keith Law wrote on his twitter that the mets rumor is completely bogus. J.P has said numerous times he is willing to listen to offers for Roy but he is not making any at this time. If J.P made that trade he would be run out of town here in Toronto, someone is just trying to drive his value down.
  4. Oh come on. We'll at least give you Bill Hall. Now it's fair.No way, Hall is a deal breaker. I forgot to add that we have to switch GM's as well
  5. How about this trade, we will give you Halladay for free and we will pick up his salary this year and next. The catch is that after this season you have to trade divisions with us and go up against the Sox, Yankees and Rays every year. Sound fair?
  6. I think Escobar and Lawrie are the two that the Jays are wanting to center a trade around. I find it hard to believe they have interest in Parra, only for the fact they have a very similar pitcher in David Purcey who they have sent to AAA this year because of control issues. They are not looking for pitchers with BB issues. I don't have a link but on the local radio J.P said he is not interested in packaging Halladay to trade him (unless it was with wells). Also due to all our power coming from the left side in Lind and Snider, then Escobar will be more valuble to us then Gamel. In my opinion, J.P is probably telling your GM no trade will happen without Escobar.
  7. The difference with that deal was Santana was gonna leave anyway. He also was not gonna be traded without an extension and he narrowed his list to 3 teams. Minnesota did not have much leverage in that trade at all. Halladay is not in the same situation, he said he prefers to stay in Toronto. The prospects Minnesota received were supposed to much better than they turned out, which just shows there is always a bit of risk with any prospect. Also with Roy there is the opportunity for 2 world series runs as opposed to one.
  8. From what I gather J.P is interested in dealing Halladay alone, he doesn't want to drag down the value (although Rolen would probably be thought of as an assett). Our best chance of winning this year and next would be with Halladay because J.P views him as the best pitcher in baseball. So if Halladay is traded it would definitely be rebuilding, because our ownership is kind of up in the air right now plus the Yankees, Sox and Rays looking strong the next few years we are leaning towards a rebuild. I know they have had interest in Hardy in the past, however he is gonna hit free agency in a few years and thus will not help the Jays win in the next year or so, plus we are looking to scale back payroll. We are not looking to dump Rios and no one would take on Wells, so with Snider coming up our outfield is set. We have plenty of middle of the rotation types like Parra, while he might be a nice add on, that is not what we are looking for. I know we have serious interest in Lawrie, we would have taken him in the draft if you guys didn't. But he would have to be added with either Gamel or Escobar, most likely Escobar as we have two left handed power hitters already in Lind and Snider. We are not looking for depth, we are looking for potential top line talent.
  9. Fair enough, when I suggested Rolen to offset the loss of Gamel I had just 09 and 10 in mind. I was thinking along the lines of you guys making a run at the World Series this year and next. If you don't think Halladay would be enough to give you that chance than holding onto your prospects is the right move long term. I understand it hurts for smaller payroll teams to cash in all their chips to go for it, if you are wrong it can set you back many years. In my opinion Halladay is worth it, and he is just that good that he could take you over the top in your division.Edit to add link on Halladays value - http://www.fangraphs.com/...oy-halladays-trade-value
  10. Just wanted to give an opinion from a Jays fan on Halladay. First off, he is one of the best character guys in all of baseball and a fan favorite here. He is loyal and took a below average deal to stay with Toronto already twice now, he is more interested in winning now than he is in making money. At the end of his contract in a year and a half you would have as much a chance at resigning him as any other team as long as you have a potential winner, it may not even break the bank. That being said, if he is traded this year consider what you got for C.C last year and that is probably a starting point for the rest of this season. Then you have him for all next year to make a run at the world series as well. If you are out of it by the break then you can flip him at the deadline next year for some great prospects or take the draft picks. The brewers seem like the best fit because every other team has outfield prospects to offer, where you have infield prospects. I think it would probably take Escobar/Gamel and Lawrie (he is Canadian and that has value to ownership) for J.P to consider dealing Roy, maybe even both Escobar and Gamel. What you would be getting is a pitcher with no durability concerns who goes deep into games at over 220 innings a year with a sub 3 era. If we trade Roy we are in full rebuilding mode so Rolen could replace Gamel at third easily with gold glove defense. He is also hitting 325/386/480 in the AL East this year. I guess it depends on how close you think you are to a world series and how important that is to you against the future. If you make the playoffs than Halladay and Gallardo would be an incredible advantage over most teams.
