  1. yep, but I thought they were putting an end to that this year, but we'll soon find out I guess. You'd think that even if the evening ratings were halved theyd still be much higher than those for a game going down on a Tuesday at 1pm. You'd obviously still enjoy the home and away markets plus a much more massive national audience. I've always liked that daytime weekday playoff action though, don't get me wrong...just sucks when you can't watch YOUR team the way you want to! James
  2. ^ I would guess no, it simply does not make them enough money- and if fairness to the fans, it can be a real PITA for most. Yep, running games side by side in/near primetime is superior. James
  3. ^ Until it's announced otherwise, a reasonable expectation would be (2) games at 5 CST and (2) at 8. But, seeing TBS is supposedly handling all 4 games, we'll see. EDIT: they've already squeezed things up Saturday by putting a game on TNT, so I'd fully expect them to do the same on Tuesday with a pair each on TNT and TBS. BTW: I see they flip-flopped the NYY and Philly game, but that's fine as they're earlier now. James
  4. ^ This makes perfect sense to me, thanks for the info. James
  5. First. The names an "auto fill" I don't type it in, so rest easy. Correct, it's a NATIONAL deal, so they view things from a whoesale standpoint ans not necessarily what's going to hurt a relatively small minority. Example: they would very well run the Brewer game concurrently with the Badger game if they deemed the ratings to be higher gunning game "C" at the alternate spot even if NOTHING is otherwise going on in that market. All I'm saying is that I can assure you they care much less about the Badger game in Madison and more about the alternate time slots with repsect to their markest infintely more. It will be no coincidence that Mil and Ari will get the poorest time slot, no matter what's going on in the region. And even MORE importantly there WILL be a game going on at that time no matter what, so that basic reality is unavoidable. And again, if the powers that be determine that what's lost for the Brewer game to the Badgers doesn't exceed the overall benefit to having that game there and the three elsewhere, that's what they will do. Yes, they will happily forgo the "winnings" of our tiny market for what they'll reap elsewhere. But that's clearly not the case here (a local competition), as the BEST scenario for TBS/MLB is: Brewers first, TB/NYY 2nd and 3rd, and Philly last. Wisconsin will be the first game....for a million dollars. Ditto for the 2, 3 and 4. James
  6. Well if that's 12:30 CST that falls inline with what my thinking was with bumping the first games back (ahead an hour, what have you). But 11:30 CST doesn't accomplish much. That is if I'm understanding TBS' original schedule correctly with GAMES beginning at 11, 2:30, 6, and 9:30 CST. James
  7. Again though, it's a national "issue"...they're looking at the big picture and what works out best with where are all four games are scheduled. I'd bet they're not losing much sleep overa couple million wisconsin viewers. James
  8. ^ No way the Brewers are playing at noon, Sunday. Don't spend another second even worrying about it. James
  9. I for one am referring to the Badgers of course. I'd bet money that neither MLB nor TBS care one iota...if it works out, great, if not, too bad. James
  10. I concur 100%. People tend to forget this "deal" is viewed nationally. And even though the WIS/NEB is still a pretty decent deal nationally, a MLB game WILL still be played during it regardless, and you can bet TBS and MLB will do what's best for THEM, overall- not what a couple million Wisconsinites desire. James
  11. ^ depends on who you believe I suppose. I have an "industry-friend" who's swore up and down to me that "little guys" like Milwaukee/WI get no such consideration. ONLY items that directly conflict with game itself (like the parking situ in Philly due to the Temple game) are looked at. I feel MIL will be the early game ONLY because it's more favorable for TBS, not because there's an evening Badger game. Just call us "lucky" I guess. The order of the games is pretty much a done deal in my mind: Neither NY or TB will be the first game. Simply too big of markets (overall) to play that early, and Philly can't play then due to the Temple game, so Milwaukee's a lock. Second and third games, will be NY/DET and TB/TEX, and the last will be Philly due to their CST. We'll see. James
  12. ^ well, I largely agree. The reality is that you need about 13 hours of time if you're looking to broadcast 4 MLB games consecutively without overlapping. Perhaps they played a game of "let's hope" and it didn't pan out for them. Now they're scrambling...likely because of the nightmare I dictated above. Grabbing your ankles is one thing, this current scenario is REALLY doing a job on a good number of people though, IMO. James
  13. My thought is a simple one: there's simply no way this schedule will remain as is. 1. There's no way they'll have ARI playing at 10 in the morning, ARI local time. No way. 2. Obviously a match-up with an east coast team starting at 10:30 PM EST is a no-go, so: 3. It's inevitable that either Philly or Milwaukee will get stuck with a 9:30 PM start with this arrangement. That will never happen, AFAIC. My guess is the first and last game will be pushed up and back an hour and we'll add some sanity to this scenario with a nominal amount of overlap. Only a guess, I guess- but does anyone recall a MLB playoff game starting at 10 AM ANYWHERE or 9/10:30 PM, ANYWHERE? I do not. Games starting at NOON, 3, 6, and 9 CST seem to make a lot of sense to me. James
  14. ^ yeah, too bad they prolly won't think twice about anything.
  15. trust me, there'll be worse calls for us to haggle over from here on out
  16. ^ unfortunately most of such data is nowhere near particular enough to consider on-field defensive alignment, player speed attributes (both batter and fielder), and a myriad of other factors.
  17. I think so (bill hall wearing the sombrero) and probably the four before that too...
  18. you can play it out a few ways...but you'd like to think your 3 can at least put one to the outfield or your 4 can save him.
  19. ^ tis y I'm giving macha the bene of the doubt...only reason
  20. prolly though he'd take a chance at a 2for1 with gomez' speed. stewart walked on 5 pitches.
