  1. Thanks guys. I LOVE the SEC move. We're going to become the SEC school in Texas.. Recruiting will go up, visibility in Texas will go up, a change to get out Texas's shadow. Equal revenue sharing in SEC unlike the Horn dominated Big XII. It's really a chance for A&M to break out. Playing the best=becoming better. Love the move. So happy we had the balls to do it.
  2. Is there some kind of unwritten rule that baseball color commentators and play by player announcers are not allowed to criticize players? It's not like the players are college amateurs. MLB players are pros getting paid to do what they love. Our FSN crew is so afraid to say anything bad about anybody like Yuni B, Casey, or Kotsay. It's as if they work for the Brewers. The other day the "ask the booth" question to the FSN crew was "What are the Brewers' weaknesses." Well, we all know what that is: the left side of our infield, Yuni B. Yet Rock answers with cream puff answer like "Well, there really aren't any weaknesses for this team. I would say depth." I don't understand it, NFL and NBA crews have no problem saying what's really on their mind. The worst are guys say is "Well, he's struggling a little bit."
  3. I noticed Casey's BABIP on FanGraphs is .271, down 30 points from last season. Could this contribute to the off year?
  4. Did anyone watching the Dbacks telecast on MLB.TV see KRod do that? Zoomed in and everything.
  5. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/6746478/undervalued-sluggers Basically the writer questions whether we can go the distance with no defense this year. He also states he expects us to be the worst team in the MLB in 2013. Solid read.
  6. Reading the forums, it seems like there's a good amount of cynicism to our first baseman, Prince Fielder. While, yes, we all wish Prince would forgo the better money and stick around, I just don't seem to understand the negativity around here toward the guy. Prince has done nothing but been an upstanding teammate, saying all the right things through this difficult process, keeping the focus unselfishly on the team. Not only this, but he has played a crucial role in reviving this franchise the past few years and creating a special atmosphere at Miller Park. The guy is simply doing what many, many, many have done before him for many years- exit town for financial reasons. While we are all so befuddled to why he would leave our beloved Brewers, maybe consider the fact he wasn't/isn't a die hard true blue Brew Crew fanatic like the rest of us. The fact of the matter is it's a business, and unfortunately, these type of things happen. Whether it's the player leaving a team, or the team dumping the player. It just happens. Rather than cynically looking down on the guy during his last season here, let us relish his enormous talent for 5 more months as we cheer on our team to win the Central. Prince, good luck in 2011 and beyond.
  7. No, the "cardinal sin" is always shooting down everything everybody else says by taking the statistically easy way out (as Invader alluded to). Can't guys get excited for their players w/out constantly being told that their ideas are foolish? I know that some posters can get ahead of themselves but it is pretty lame to see how consistently important and accurate some peoples opinions seem to come off as. Remember, "fan" is short for "fanatic". Let guys have some fun once in a while... Ennder is fine for providing his opinion. It would be one thing if he made the post in a rude/condescending manner, but Ennder was simply making a point. And there is nothing wrong with that.
  8. Is there any chance teams like the Bucks would benefit from a new CBA? There are too many teams at a large disadvantage because of their small market cities. How exactly would a new CBA help NBA cities like Milwaukee?
  9. 2 things: 1.) There has to plenty of FA shortstops out there that are better than Betancourt2.) What on earth was Roenickie thinking with that defensive set up?? Werth was halfway down the basepath!! All Ankiel needed to do was hit the ball into play, regardless where or how far! Did RR think there was 2 outs or something?? Ridiculous. Incompetence everywhere. Melvin, you truly are thickheaded. RR, terrible, terrible managing. If we lose the division or wild card by one game.. This loss is on: 50% YB50% RR's incompetence in the 10th inning
  10. Question: Was Nyjer always this good with the Nationals, and if he was, why did they let him go for next to nothing?
  11. Like everyone, I agree, 1B AAA best route. BUT, I am really disappointed that circumstances have prevented us from utilizing the bat of of Gamel earlier. I know we will have him in his prime for a good 5 years, but I wish he was an everyday bat for us earlier on. He's too talented of a kid to have been in the minors for half a decade.
  12. Man, that late Morgan trade by Melvin just might of saved our season..
  13. You know, when you think about it, this Brewers squad right now that is 6-5 and we're all happy about so far, is largely the same exact team as the team we so hated last year, just with the addition of Marcum. Morgan/Hart and Escobar/B-Court are washes.
  14. Found this post on brewers.com: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110412&content_id=17687218&notebook_id=17687146&vkey=notebook_mil&c_id=mil If this is true, I sure hope Corey had a good excuse. This is simply unacceptable.
  15. I think the Brewers want to avoid a Andrew Bogut type of a deal. The Bucks and Andrew Bogut clearly rushed his return for the start of the season.. Bogut was never the same this season, and even admitted he returned too early. Can't blame the organization for being cautious.. We're holding up offensively enough right now.
  16. Hi guys, I'm new here, been reading BrewerFan for a couple of years, gradually becoming a bigger and bigger fan. Can someone make a quick breakdown of who are the "bubble" guys as far as making the roster? Who's "in" and "on the outside looking in." I've been reading alot of names being thrown out the past couple of days (Kotsay, Boggs, Almonte, Maldonado, etc) as guys trying to make the roster this spring and I would like to see it in a clear visual format along with what their position is. Thanks! Edit-It would also be really helpful if someone could provide a quick one sentence breakdown of the guys' past history, strengths and weaknesses. Just trying to sort out everything and all of the moving pieces.
  17. The guy has serious moxy and a swagger about him that's contagious.. Loved the way he celebrated after hitting a homerun even though we were getting dominated one game. I for one am wondering why he's just now getting help to change his approach at the plate. Kind of seems like something he should of been doing last spring, and throughout all of last season, for that matter.
