  1. We just do NOT want to win this thing easy. Heck, I'm wondering if we really want to win this thing. The tail end of '82 was like this, I remember... but at least we were winning games against the likes of the Twinkies and the Blue Jays.
  2. Some random thoughts about the Brewers record this season, as it compares to franchise history:This was the second-best record on July 1st in franchise history; in 1978 (the first year of Bambi's Bombers), Milwaukee was 45-31, for a .592 winning percentage. The Crew has been at or above .500 on July 1st 13 times in their 38-season journey as Milwaukee's representative in the AL and NL. Of those 13 times, the Brewers have only finished below .500 four times: 1975 (68-94), 2004 (67-94), 1998 (74-88 ) and 1996 (80-82). You'll notice that two of those were in NL play. This was the second-worst dropoff, in terms of winning percentage, from game 34 on the season to July 1st in franchise history. In 1990, the Crew went from a 21-13 start to 33-41 on July 1st, en route to a 74-88 record in the AL East. Incidentally, these were the only two seasons where the drop from game 34 to July 1st was greater than .100.47 wins is the most in franchise history on July 1st, and the sixth time the team has posted 42 wins as of that date. The other seasons should bring a smile to Brewer fans: 1978, 1979, 1980, 1998... and 1982. 1998 was the only losing season of that bunch. The average dropoff from July 1st to season's end in winning percentage is -0.004; that would still project this team at about 95 wins. The number of times the Brewers have had a worse final record than on July 1st is 16, compared to 21 times where they improved.

  4. Wow. Those guys looked like they were just standing around, wondering what the heck was going on. I only have one thing to say: thank God we're in the NL Central, or we'd be in serious trouble.
  5. I heart Prince Fielder. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Wow. I just saw the infamous two-run pop fly out to second... After seeing that, I can only say one thing: this is a team of destiny.
  7. Metro Davidson County and the Nashville Sounds have apparently come to an impasse over financing of their new ballpark in downtown Nashville. This could result in the Sounds being forced to shut down or move elsewhere, since Hal Greer Stadium is woefully under the standards for triple-A baseball. Any thoughts?
  8. Nine times out of ten, this game is over, over, over. This was the 10th time. M-Lo with runners on first and second... and BANG. Single to left. Wagner throws a wild pitch to let runners advance into scoring position. And Burnitz singles to right to TIE THE GAME.
  9. You're just now thinking this? What the heck just happened here, anyways?
  10. This post left blank due to cursing.
  11. Ah, Danny "Gasoline on the fire" Kolb does it again.
  12. Get up, GET UP, GET OUTTA HERE GONNNNNEEEEE! Brewers lead 3-1!
  13. Are we doing our usual "wait until the ninth inning" routine?
  14. That was the unhittable pitch. LETS GET SOME RUNS!
