  1. I'll be at the Marriott Boston Cambridge. Flying in tomorrow morning and trying to find tickets on the street if we make it in time tomorrow. Sitting 6 rows behind home plate on Sunday.
  2. The Brewers could go 10-0 on the road trip and people would be calling for a new manager. That's not a great barometer for the success of the road trip. I'll be happy with 5-5. Anything better would be great!
  3. Yea I really would yank Sheets in a 3-0 game with the #8 and #9 hitters due up. If he gets Bennett you yank him after the 7th with a 3-0 defecit. The HR by Bennett was the shocker. Edit: Was so pissed typing that..I forgot to change it to Blue, but that should be pretty obvious.
  4. Why on earth would you want Gagne to get hurt? He's the best chance the Brewers have at getting production in the 9th inning. He already went through a great stretch in the middle of April and will end up with 40+ saves most likely. Mota is a good middle-inning guy, but just not cut out to be a closer like Gagne is.
  5. Wow. Watching Mota try to close out a game is absolutely excrusiatingly painful. That's why you can't have a closer by committee and just throw anyone out there for the 9th. Gagne has to be the closer on this team. I understand he pitched 3 out of 4 days and wasn't going tonight, but he needs to be the closer in all save situations when he is available.
  6. I would think it is something more "mechanical" then "philosophical". What I mean by that is, probably something along the lines of arm angle, or grip on the ball, or location on the rubber. Not something like "throw more first pitch strikes". That's pretty much common sense, I would think. I think Gagne's stuff has looked really good all year, but he has just hit some bad luck, and some bad pitch locations at bad times. Hopefully the mino adjustment will help him get back to dominating form like he was for 3 weeks in April
  7. Well seriously..with a team THIS talented..to actual post a poll wondering if the we'd see .500 again after dipping 1 game below after a tough 9 game road trip..... We were just asking for people to say "haha told you so." To post this poll when it was posted was stupid at best, but more likely idiotic. Of course they were going to see .500 again.
  8. So 2 days out of the closers role doesn't count as a mental break to you? What would constitute a mental break in your mind? 4 days? 6 days? 3 weeks? 1 month 3 days 4 hours and 23 minutes? He took two days out of the closer role. To me, that was the mental break he needed.
  9. I don't know what's more shocking...the fact that this poll was even started after a tough road trip to dip below .500? Or the fact that 19% of the posters on this board actually thought the brewers wouldnt see .500 again? I don't know what makes me keep coming back to this board, but I do. It must be the crazy fans who panic everytime a baseball team hits a bit of a skid during a 162 game season. The over-under on number of times a similar type of poll is started this season.....claiming the season is a lost one......is 3....and I'll take the over. Once in June, Once in August...and twice in September.
  10. Why do you need a 1-2-3 save? Does it make you sleep better at night? Does it make you feel better about yourself?? The guy just recorded 5 outs in the 9th inning. They should give him credit for 2 saves after the botched DP and the strikeout of Andruw Jones before the walk.
  11. Good to have Gagne back where he belongs. Closing games. Now everyone else can assume their roles where they belong and we know who has the 9th inning.
  12. Yea he gave up a single. And a walk after he struck out Andruw Jones. This is what makes players love playing for Ned Yost. He is loyal almost to a fault and players can respect that.
  13. Good to see Gagne up. Time to get him on track as the team is starting to heat up. Once he gets in a groove...it's all pistols firing for this team.
  14. Hmmm...Gamel can hit. Branyan can't. I guess I don't see your logic. At all.
  15. To win the NL Central and make any noise in the playoffs, this team needs an effective Eric Gagne. The faster we get him back on track, the better. I say if you have a 2 or 3 run lead in the Dodgers series you hand him the ball and hope a save gets his confidence back. I would keep him in Milwaukee for the trip to Boston for a "mental/physical" break and off day on Monday, then he can rejoin the team on Tuesday as the closer again. He has hit some bad luck, bad location with some pitches, and lack of confidence issues. 2 of the 3 can easily be corrected and the 3rd evens out over the course of the year. I still think he'll save close to 40 games.
