  1. I have a great feeling about this current Brewers team. I did not have this same feeling in 2008 or 2011. Although I love the Brewers as a franchise, those teams were not the most likable and the locker room was split into different factions. Plus, both of those teams were poor defensively and were also very strike out prone. Compare those teams to the franchise's gold standard - the 1982 Brewers and you begin to realize how far those team were from getting to the World Series, even though they made the playoffs. Besides having incredible talent with four Hall-of-Famers (Simmons should be in too & that would make it 5), the 1982 Brewers were extremely close in the locker room. Remember they used to rush to get to the stadium everyday to play a game called flip (pepper) before the regular baseball game started. In addition, the 1982 team had a great bench especially defensively, World Series experience with Fingers, Cooper, and Sutton, and they had the best player in baseball in Robin Yount. There are lots of similarities with this current Brewers team starting with the great team chemistry, maybe the best bench in baseball, great defense, World Series experience with Cain, Moustakas, and Granderson, and they also have the best player in baseball in Christian Yelich. Both teams have great hitters with speed early in the line-up followed by big boppers in the middle! The 1982 team had slightly better starting pitching than this current Brewers team, but the current team has one thing the 1982 Brewers didn't have at playoff time, a strong bullpen. That's because, as you know, Rollie Fingers was injured and he is probably the reason as to why that team lost the 1982 World Series. BTW - before the extra tie break game this week with the Cubs both teams finished with identical records at 95-67. The bullpen, if it doesn't break down, is really the x-factor in all of this for the current team. None of this really means anything regarding the future success of the 2018 Brewers. However, it does illustrate that they are a worthy World Series candidate, unlike the 2008 and 2011 teams. As I indicated, I really like this team. If they get past the Rockies, and that is a big "if", I would really like to play the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS. That way this city can exorcise the demon of the Milwaukee Braves once and for all if we beat them for a trip to the World Series! I wish we would have played them in the 1982 World Series instead of the Cardinals! Thank you for reading. I would appreciate your comments.
  2. I disagree. I think this is a fine team. A fine bullpen. And, a fine nickname. "Frosty Boys". Love it!!!!! and
  3. No worries. I know your type. I work in politics and I see your type all every now and then. You know the type I'm talking about because you're one of them. The type that always complains or belittles the ideas of others because that's easy. You know the type, the ones that never come up with ideas of their own. The type that never takes a chance or puts themselves out there for others to judge because it's too easy for you to bully someone or knock them down. Even if it's a person's first post, you gotta be mean. Not critical in a positive way, but downright mean. Yep, you know that type very well because it's you. A wise man once told me there are doers in this world and don'ters. The doers make the world go round and live meaningful lives. Don'ters are the obstacles the doers must overcome on their way to acheiving greatness. A doer makes history. A don'ter is small and insignificant. Your above comment is a small one. I love the Frosty Boys nickname. I think it is true genius and a very fitting nickname for the bullpen. I credit the caller Mike for coming up with it and his remarkable call to Tim Allen. Now that is a doer. This is one of my favorite posts of all time. And that's probably not a compliment. I'm a don'ter. I've always thought the world of SternsDavid. Now, I also think the world of SternsFTW! Great post SternFTW. Don't sell yourself short, you are a tremendous Don'ter! I forgot to mention that some Don'ters take the negative so far that they turn it into a positive!
  4. There are some fair comments out there about the great "Frosty Boys" nickname for our amazing bullpen of this World Series bound team. However, the one argument I don't buy is the one about JJ. After all, JJ plays for the Milwaukee Brewers.
  5. I appreciate those words FVBrewerFan. Thanks. And for anyone thinking I someone else with a history here, you couldn't be more wrong. I posted about this issue yesterday and if anything is similar to a former poster it is only by coincidence. I'm just the type that doesn't take any unnecessary crap. I would never come at anyone. I'm very kind, considerate, and engaging. But like I said, if someone comes at me, expect the hammer and I'm not talking about Henry Aaron. As far as FVBrewerfan and I go, as far as I'm concerned, it is over and done. Hopefully he and I can engage in compelling conversations about the Brewers and everybody's favorite bullpen, the Frosty Boys from now until the Brewers win the World Series. To the guy who posted just before me, your slot car stuff sounds great! I am a slot car nut. I race all 3 primary scales: HO, 1/32 and 1/24. I've got a huge HO track that is 4 lanes, and three other 1/32:1/24 tracks. I've got about 70 cars total of all three scales. However, HO is still my favorite! Love spending time racing with my kids!
  6. Wow! U guys are something else!!! I'm a brand new poster and I come here with a great idea and most of you, not all, are complete jerks. Please tell me what I did other than provide a great idea for a nickname for this team and stick up to a bully. I thought I was very respectful. I wasn't rude, I didn't call him names, I just put him in his place. He deserved that. My very first post I get attacked. Then someone thinks I'm some other poster. Ridiculous! When did Brewers fans become so mean to fellow fans? There are a few that did stick up for me. Thank you. I hope these type of people are really the norm here. If the site owner wants to check my IP address please do. If he/she wants to PM me and then call me I will give him/her any information they need to prove I've never posted here before. Please do it. This really was my first time posting here and I don't know of anyone personally that ever has posted here either. I Google searched for a Brewers fan forum and this one came to up at the top. I also noticed it was very active which I thought was a good thing for my first post about the frosty boys. I am completely flabbergasted at how I've been treated as a newbie (not by all). Again, if the site owner wants to contact me personally, please do. I want to prove that I've never posted here because the culture of this site is very toxic. Oxy, nice ideas buddy. Keep them coming.

  8. Just wanted to say how impressed I have been with the Milwaukee Brewers bullpen this year. So impressed that I think the bullpen of this wonderful team deserves a nickname. On September 14, 2018 a caller on to Tim Allen's post-game show on 1250 AM WSSP came up with the perfect nickname - "The Frosty Boys". I am not that caller, however, I think the nickname is phenominal! Like the 1982 team, I believe this team is destined for the World Series. As we know, the 1982 Brewers had a great nickname, "Harvey's Wallbangers" based on its home run prowess and it has kept that team relevant in popular culture even to this day. The 2011 did not have a nickname. Maybe nicknames have something to do with destiny. Unlike Harvey's Wallbangers, the Frosty Boys nickname is based not on the hitters, but the bullpen pitchers. The name Frosty Boys is a simple take on the metaphor of a frosty beer as it relates to the teams incredible bullpen pitching. A perfect fit - a beer metaphor for a team called the Brewers! For example, like a good frosty beer their pitches leave every hitter with a bitter taste! In addition, the pitches of the Frosty Boys are straight-up cold, with lots of cream, and they go down fast just like a good frosty beer! Here is an audio link to the original call regarding the idea of the nickname from September 14, 2018: Here is a link to a jpeg that another fan has made up: It would be nice if some of the fans in the Miller Park crowd held up some Frosty Boys signs at Game 1 of the NLDS on Thursday! I've got a great feeling about this team. It's togetherness, power, and the MVP (Yelich) remind me of the 1982 team! One of the things the 1982 didn't have was a great bullpen, like these Frosty Boys of 2018, primarily because the OG Frosty Boy Rollie Fingers was injured. It is probably the reason that special team of 1982 didn't win the World Series. Thank you everyone and go Brewers!
