Arthur was a tropical disturbance last week off the coast of Texas. It was questionable whether it would be named at all given the intensity at the time. It gained a just enough energy to intensify and get named as it made its way north into Louisiana. It quickly fell apart when it came ashore and became a rain event. Tropical systems rotate counterclockwise so it was pulling moisture off the gulf coast into south Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama as it made its way back east. All in all a weak system but a rain generator nonetheless.
