  1. I voted 'no' , because I feel the best path to winning more games this year lies in the Brewers adding major league contributers without giving up major league contributers. Adding Marcum for a Lawrie (who may very well be future a Major-League contributer, but isn't at that level right now) addresses this. Signing Pavano, or trading for a starting pitcher without giving up anyone from our Major League roster also addresses this most efficiently. This is a pivotal year. Attendance dropped below 3,000,000 and needs to go back above that mark. The Brewers have minor league talent, but it is a few years away. They need to win now to keep the public's interest and give time for the minor leaguers to develop and hopefully contribute in the future.
  2. Then why hasn't he already signed with the Twins? Pavano said he was going to make his decision early this week. It is now late this week. Perhaps he is not as sold on the Twins as everyone believes.
  3. Does the fact that Carl Pavano hasn't already re-signed with the Twins mean that the Brewers have a legitimate chance to sign him? It just seems that the longer it takes, the better the chances he signs with the Brewers.
  4. I apologize for my poor thread-scanning abilities. I really thought I was the first one. But since you are here... 1) Congratulations! Wasn't that a great game! 2) Do you remember how cool the Baltimore fans were? We got teased a little at the start of the game, but around the 4th inning, when Nieves started calming down and getting better control of his pitches, the Baltimore fans in my area started talking about the possibility of a no-no and by the 7th inning were cheering for Juan right along with my roommate and I. 3) I don't think the TV has ever done justice to how far Yount ran to make the last catch. I remember Paciorek shading the LF line and Yount way over on the left side of CF before the play started. What are your recollections of it?
  5. I was seated up the 3rd base line. There weren't many people there and it was misting/light raining at the start of the game, so my roommate and I moved further up under the second deck - to stay dry.
  6. The Brewers would have to finish above .500. To feel not as irked if the Brewers don't finish above .500: 1) Continued improvement of the youngsters. 2) Dickerson finishing with respectable Brewer stats. 3) Five guys with 100 RBIs (Hart, McGehee, Weeks, Braun and Fielder). I know this is a stretch, but it would be so cool! 4) Gamel coming up in September and NOT looking like he has a huge hole in his swing and can actually play some defense at any position.
  7. I saw Juan Nieves' no-hitter and have the ticket stub to prove it. Since there was only 1 Brewers no-no..... I believe I have jumped into the lead in this thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif Which still doesn't mean I'm not slightly jealous of other posters. I have always wanted to see live/ see on TV/ hear on the radio a Brewers triple play and I never have.
  8. While it would be nice to have our cake and eat it too, Lyle Overbay's name should probably be deleted from the 40-man roster list.
