RIP Wes Covington

"In 1961, the Braves placed Covington on waivers"

Another example of the complete and utter ineptitude of then Braves GM, John McHale which ultimately led to the Braves departing for Atlanta, not so ironically after having been sold to a group that included McHale who uttered the infamous lie that "the Braves will be here today, tomorrow and as long as they are welcome" even after the group had already secretly made the deal to move the team.

I got a little case of deja-vu until I read the article and saw that he died a few weeks back. Sad to lose another Braves legend. Not many of these guys left from the '57 and '58 teams.
