Nice article. Always nice to get that kind of positive attention on a national level. However, I didn't get this at all:

In a time when the perceived popularity of baseball is dipping, when football

has long overtaken baseball as America’s Pastime and when the NBA has reemerged

as the viable No. 2, these Brewers — today’s version of the 2004 “Idiot” Red Sox

— are just what Selig's sport needs.

I can buy the football argument, but the NBA at #2?? Huh?!?

The NBA is still huge in a few cities. Like New York and Chicago for example, but not so much here or for most of the country. The NFL is definitely way ahead of MLB at this point. That being said, the Brewers are potentially a team that could draw in more casual fans. They really truely are having fun out there. People like that.

I honestly don't know anyone who follows the NBA at this point.

I'm not a big fan myself, but in LA (big media market that it is)...this is the Lakers town.

I love the reference to the Brewers as the "40-year old virgins" of baseball...that's pretty funny.

I guess I may be a little biased, since I have absolutely zero interest in the NBA. Hard to get too excited about a sport where 50% of the teams make an endless playoff season and the regular season really is meaningless. I very rarely hear any office chatter about the NBA where I work. Pro football and baseball and college sports dominate most of the sports talk among people I know.

Anyway, didn't mean to change the direction of this thread. I think every team's true fans feels that their team has character, but I think even a non-Brewer fan would have to admit that the Brewers truly do have character.

Maybe I'm the only one that cares about details like this, but man... the devil is in the details, Reid Forgrave.

Cool to see that the Brewers have some national appeal, but that's not too surprising to Brewers fans. These guys rock!

I'm a bigger NBA fan than NFL and MLB. Sucks about the lockout, but it's very positive for the Bucks. The NBA needs changes.

twirly, I'm waiting for you to chime in.
