Brewers complete coaching staff with Carlos Subero, Jason Lane

 

Subero, 43, will coach first base and infielders. He was Biloxi's manager in 2015.

 

Lane, who'll turn 39 this month, will be "coach in general" (Haudricourt's words) and will assist hitting coach Darnell Coles. He was a player for El Paso (Padres organization) in 2015.

I guess Stearns is looking for versatile coaches too. I would assume Lane is going to be working with both pitchers and hitters since he did both in his big league career.

McCalvy says Lane's "official title is simply 'Major League coach,' but the position essentially translates to assistant hitting coach."

 

I've adjusted Lane's age in the lead. He'll be 39 on December 22. Neither Haudricourt nor McCalvy have that tidbit quite right. Tom says he's 39 right now; Adam says he'll be 38 on his upcoming birthday.
