Guessing my earlier post got lost with the site freeze.

 

Atlanta also got Darren O'Day (currently hurt, out rest of year) as part of the deal. Key point is O'Day is also under contract for 2019..

Even with the addition of O'Day and the presumed negative value his contract status might carry I still have a hard time believing that the ask from Baltimore was that expensive. It looks like the return is pretty light and could gave been easily matched by the crew. Maybe they didn't see Gausman as an upgrade. I guess time will tell.

Braves have Gausman for 2 1/2 years to see if they can turn him and his stuff around.

Atlanta also sent $2.5M in international bonus pool money to the O's. That is not an insignificant number, and it could put the O's over the top for that Cuban pitcher.
