Derek Holland resigns with SF Giants: 1-year, $7M

Left-hander Derek Holland has resigned with the Giants. Holland gets 1-year and $6.5M plus a team option with a 500k buyout.

 

The deal takes one of the lower/mid-tier left handed starters off the market, leaving Wade Miley, Gio Gonzalez and Drew Pomeranz as the most likely FA targets for the Brewers - who lack a left handed arm in the rotation.

 

The 32-year old Holland had a nice season last year, throwing 170+ innings with an ERA of 3.57.

His turnaround was right up there with Miley's. He allowed an astounding 31 HR with the woeful White Sox in just 135 innings the year before. Granted he went from a HR friendly park to one that's very pitcher friendly but his other numbers improved considerably too.
