Strzelecki may only throw 91/92 but the way he hides the ball it makes it look like 95/96.  There is actual velocity and perceived velocity.  Perceived velocity can also come from a good change up which is why Devin's straight as an arrow fastball doesn't always get hammered like it should.  His change up makes his fastball a little less hittable and that fastball is not all that great.  Without the changeup Devin is not a MLB reliever.

I very much disagree that DW's fastball isn't good. It also isn't straight as an arrow. His 4-seam FB this year is 1.2 inches better than league average in vertical movement and 2.9 inches better than average in horizontal movement (9.8 inches of break). Combine that with his 100th percentile extension and that FB is a good pitch.

I said they don't catch. Not that they don't play lol. Brewers have a full-time DH on their roster in Winker. It's not as easy to just play Contreras at DH when he isn't catching when they need to get Winker consistent ABs.

Okay, fine, you said they don't catch everyday. But, if Rutschman can play every game so far this season, why can't Contreras play a little more than he has been, including at DH?

Winker is the full-time DH AGAINST RHP. Against LHP, he doesn't play...Creates opportunity for Contreras to get rest from C and see time at DH without having to be removed from the lineup completely.

FWIW, Winker wasn't even in the lineup on the roadtrip, yet Contreras still didn't DH...

I seem to remember Ted Simmons would DH some days when he didn't catch.

Bottom line, Counsell is one of those managers who, when he gives his starting C a day off, wants it to be a TOTAL day off. Which knowing him isn't surprising. I don't have a dog in the fight except that I like to see Voight get some ABs to see if he can get in a groove.

Wiemer had a couple ABs today where he looked not-at-all ready for big league pitching. Yet he also homered & doubled. As talented as he is defensively I like the idea of him getting 4 ABs a game from the 8 or 9 hole. His throw to 3B today was some impressive stuff. Didn't even set himself up perfectly momentum-wise and still almost picked up an assist.

This is my thinking as well. He’s going to need some time to get up to game speed. Two weeks at the very least, I’d think.

First AB triple last night. First AB double tonight. He is nuts with Nashville, historically speaking. Regardless, he looks healthy; in shape; and dialed in.

One other factor - who is the team's third catcher? If Contreras DHs, and Caratini gets hurt, Contreras has to catch, and the DH goes bye-bye, and the pitcher hits. And not all pitchers hit like Brandon Woodruff.

Braves didn't have a problem DHing Contreras last year with D'Arnaud catching...

What are the odds?

Even if it did happen, it's one game, or just a part of a game you'd have to deal with it.  DHing Contreras far outweighs that risk.

They changed the ruling on the Anderson botched fly-ball and gave Maton a double. Runs now charged to Freddy. Stupid. Completely disagree with the scorers being able to change their ruling after the game.

That's absolutely laughable.
