What are you thinking about this weeks game against the Eagle's? What are some of the keys to the game? Do you think they will win by a whisper or lose by a pounding thunderstrom? Does Jordan Love connect with anyone over 40 yards? Does Jordan Love pass for more than 300 yards? Can we get pressure on Hurts? Does Barkley break 150 rushing yards against our D? Should we receive or defer?

I expect Jalen Hurts will be a bit rusty, on account of all the missed practice time in the concussion protocol.  To me, that gives GB the proverbial puncher's chance...but you really hope it includes:

  • If not a fast start, then just avoiding early turnovers and getting behind more than 1 score.
  • Packers Receivers holding on to the ball (during and after the catch)!
  • Keep Saquon contained.  He'll get his touches & yards, but avoid giving up the chunk plays that bring the crowd into it (and lead to scores).
  • Pass rushers finishing the play, rather than letting Jalen break the pocket and scramble for first downs.

Hoping for Doubs and Tucker Kraft to elevate the offense, and for the Packers secondary to limit the number of deep balls to the Eagles receivers.  I wish I felt more comfortable predicting a win, but they're not coming into the playoffs with the momentum I'd like.

I'm optimistic we can keep Hurts contained and not have ourselves another Kaepernick situation, but not as much about slowing Saquon. Overall I think our defense will do fairly well. On offense I worry that maybe Jacobs will have a 3yd average but nothing much for big gains and our offense will struggle to get enough consistency to score 6 instead of 3.

Or maybe like a lot of games it just comes down to whether Jordan Love's Brett Favre throws will be caught by us or them.

In case you want to feel good about something: if both teams play to type, this one should be a close, low-scoring game. Why do I say that? Not only do both defenses tend not to give up a ton of yards or points, but both offenses tend towards the opposing defense’s strength (or away from its weakness, in GB’s case).

To wit: the Eagles are stingy against the run and play a lot of man defense. The Packers haven’t beaten man consistently all year, and prefer to go through Jacobs as options A and B. Meanwhile, the Packers are pretty decent against the run and should have nearly everyone ready to go on defense, while they can’t cover the middle of the field for beans. But Philly throws the ball less often than anyone, and almost never over the middle of the field.

Add all that up and there’s two takeaways: first, don’t bet the over; second, don’t expect the Eagles to run away with this thing unless some weird stuff happens. The big question: can the Packers finally finish against a great team?

We need a really good  solid game from Love. Also need both Kraft and Musgrave involved (i.e. getting passes thrown to consistently). Hoping we can stop their running game especially Sequan. Not thinking post concussion Jalen Hurts will be taking off as much. So often this year our team has been "off" and has never played a good to great 4 quarter game. Unfortunately I have a sense we lose by a couple of touchdowns. Just an aside: If we win the coin flip I REALLY hope LeFleur defers. I feel cautiously pessimistic.

I think he is trying to start games better and not fall behind, but we normally start off pretty cold so having the ball first doesn't seem to help.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."
