There is room for both of them at third. Defense for Ortiz is other worldly and Hamilton's is really on the rise. I trust Pat Murphy. -
I think you can be a great fan by cheering for Yelli but also by hoping for his benching for a while so he can clear his head and spirit. Both are ok and part of fandom.

Lots of lines in the water per Matt Arnold. We weren't fishing for Peralta (but good luck to him). Hopefully Mason Miller the reliever from San Diego makes his way to the Brew Crew. An A+ bullpen can really make some noise in October. Go get our muskie Matt Arnold.

Great news. He was an ascending player at the time of the injury. Just not sure where he lands in the lineup. Pinch hitter, pinch runner, late inning defensive help and occasional start in any outfield position. A Renaissance man of sorts.

I read something yesterday that most Brewer fans want them to trade for Skubal. Who are these fans? Where are these fans? Please , please , please don't give up the farm for a couple month rental.

Say no to this madness. Skubal is too expensive for a two month date. Now Mason Miller is expensive but there is a long honeymoon with him. That would be incredible if Matt Arnold could pull that off.

Wouldn't it be fun if we actually were behind the Brewer's Curtain as they discussed all the options available. If Matt Arnold let us sit at the back of the room to just listen. I would promise not to spill the beans. That would be a rich experience. If they started to talk about giving up all these young prospects for a couple of months to rent Skubal I might scream and get kicked out of the room. :) :) :)

I just remember a few years back when the Brewers traded Josh Hader while they were in a pennant run. The clubhouse was surprised and it had a detrimental effect on the team. This team has some players who are really strong clubhouse guys. I have a hard time believing they will be trading guys like Sal Frelick and Joey Ortiz. Maybe in the offseason but not now in the middle of chasing a deep October run. I love your articles Matt but disagree with Ortiz being spun off.

One plus one equals two. The possibility of the Brewers wanting to trade for this position seems outlandish. Not a position of need at this juncture with our pitchers hemorrhaging. Also the aspect of Matt Arnold bringing Brewer types of players into the clubhouse doesn't add up. Also his having "not so good" defense doesn't fit. One plus one isn't adding up here for me to two. It just seems outlandish, crazy and way off target for where this club sits in 2026.

Some aspects of competitive ball change as we age. The wheels aren't spinning like they used to. Our roles change and evolve in the midst of aging. Yelich has a manager who understands aging better than most since he lives it. I am certain there are quiet behind the scenes conversations to address these realities. His role on the team may be changing but not his place on the team. Milwaukee is fortunate to have someone like Yelich on the field at times and in the clubhouse always.

Amazing how wonderful it is to be a part of the Milwaukee Brewer fanbase. Years and years adding up to a decade of superb baseball especially in the Murphy years. Trusting Matt Arnold and his savants that a plan is underway to solidify the areas of need in the pitching department. Grateful to see Joey Ortiz OWNING third base now. Has there ever been a better time to be a fan? Especially in light of what could lie ahead with the riches of their minor league system.
