Sounds No-Hit by Jumbo Shrimp - Nashville Scores Three Runs in Ninth to Avoid Shutout
The Sounds game summary provides additional details, limiting the damage so to speak, not as beefy as a standard Nashville report, but what could be said, really? Perhaps you already gravitated to the game log to determine how the odd no-no wrapped up.
Suggested reading (Seigler was behind the plate for this game):
Affiliate social media admins are at their best when times are toughest.
Our nightly forum thread served its purpose in reminding everyone why Jeferson Quero has not donned catcher's gear in a while, he DH'd again Friday.
On a no-hit night, perhaps it was best that Tyler Black was idle, 3-for-36 with the Sounds (12 K's, 8 BB's).
On to Saturday...

Wichrowski's Dominant Start Leads Shuckers to Shutout Win over Clingstones - Brewers No. 14 prospect retires 16 of final 17 batters, Shuckers hold Clingstones hitless after first
Still just 22 years old (until August), RHP Brett Wichrowski dazzled not only with his arm but also his glove.
Wichrowski needed only 72 pitches to toss six scoreless (1 BB, 6 K). It was the first time he reached the six-inning mark this season, after having done so three times last summer. In those three 2024 instances, two were also scoreless, and in the other one run crossed the plate.
Speaking earlier of fantastic social admin work, you'll find the traditional view of Adam Hall's two-run double here (Hall thought it was out initially), Then, to follow-up a bit later with this post (on a road game, no less), well, that's just art. We imagine this was all Voice of the Shuckers Javik Blake's doing (Javik is all-everything), but if someone else was behind this, kudos.
Home run, single, walk, for Darrien Miller who also was plunked for the 7th time this season and now has 86 bruises in his pro career.
Scorching-hot Ethan Murray (check out his OPS for 20 games played in May/June) was idle in this one but be sure to catch up with him within the linked audio interviews from above.

Pérez Powers Wisconsin Past Quad Cities - Rattlers DH homers twice, drives in six in 7-1 win
Does Voice of the Timber Rattlers Chris Mehring enjoy his job? We vote yes, especially on nights like this. We'll have to check on Chris' voice box for Saturday after this one:
Ejections: Timber Rattlers second baseman Daniel Guilarte ejected by 1B umpire Robert Bonet (9th).
Of a 7-1 game, you're on top? In what is known in the Link Report industry as a teaser, go to the 05:20 minute mark, find out wat happened with Guilarte. Seems very innocuous, but sure enough, he was kicked out:
You should be listening to all the podcasts in full, regardless. Manager Victor Estevez and Hedbert Perez are the featured interview guests.
As Estevez acknowledges, southpaw reliever Jesus Broca, the 21-year-old Mexican native, continues to impress.
Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Delmarva (Orioles) 8, Carolina 2

Mudcats Drop Contest at Delmarva
Mudcats drop to 5-2 in the second half.
Only one highlight available. I feel as though we don't get to see Filippo Di Turi (played shortstop Friday) batting right-handed that often, he has 45 AB's on the season, .688 OPS from that side in the small sample, .812 when batting left-handed.
The box score always feels a bit empty when either Jesus Made or Luis Pena are getting rest, Friday was Pena's turn to have a dugout seat.
Braylon Payne's last game played was back on the 17th.
Speaking of Made, he singled twice, walked and stole his 33rd base in 39 attempts. If you have a subscription to The Athletic, Keith Law comments on that duo and RHP Bryce Meccage after recently catching the Carolina squad in person.
Welcome to full-season ball, Pedro Ibarguen. Playing LF, 1-for-3, walk, SB, two K's.
Despite allowing seven baserunners over his 3.1 innings, LHP Bjorn Johnson had a productive night and saved the pen from further use.
Final: ACL Brewers 5, ACL Padres 3
Box Score and Game Log
The A-Crew was finally allowed to stay up late on a Friday night and play a full nine innings. That decision always seems so random game-to-game. It was 104 degrees at game time, but as we all know, it's a dry heat. The Arizona Complex League regular season schedule ends on Wednesday July 23rd, partly in deference to the heat (although there will be extended informal activity in Arizona throughout the summer).
Two pitchers who won't even turn 19 years old until the calendar flips to 2026 performed very well here, as Venezuelan southpaw Enderson Mercado and Dominican RHP Ayendy Bravo combined to strike out 11 over 8.2 innings. Four San Diego farmhands reached base via walk or HBP, and when a plunking and a single had Bravo on the line in the bottom of the 9th, the call for a lefty out of the pen was made. Jose Meneses balked the runners into scoring position before ending the game on a pop-out despite the large home crowd cheering the San Diego kids on.
What you see is what you get for now on this Maryvale club. The only two bench players in this game, Luis Corobo and Freider Rojas, have only played their 2025 defense behind the plate. The 165-player recent limit on stateside bodies is a factor, but clearly that roster situation can't linger. Second baseman Jadyn Fielder was hit by a pitch but stayed in the game. If he hadn't been able to?
Final: DSL Red Sox Red 8, DSL Brewers Gold 4
Box Score and Game Log
Freddy Peralta's cousin Christopher struck out seven and walked only one over four two-run innings. This is year two in the system for the right-hander.
17-year-old LHP Joan Pena (nice to see more port-siders tossing at the rookie levels!) was not as sharp as in his three prior outings, but did strike out six over five frames, issuing one walk and one HBP. His defense let him down in both the Red Sox' two-run 6th and four-run 8th, leading to four unearned runs on Pena's line.
Another 17-year-old, Dominican CF Francis Sosa, a RH bat and $200,000 January signing, moved his OPS to .875 after 57 plate appearances with a two-hit game that included his 3rd home run of the season, nice! Here may be the DSL individual breakout we've been seeking.
Top-signing at $1.3 million, Kenny Fenelon was 0-for-3 with a walk and was caught stealing for the 6th time in 14 attempts.
Final: DSL Orioles Orange 4, DSL Brewers Blue 3
Box Score and Game Log
Billed as "The Alliteration Game", the Baby Blueies grabbed a 3-2 lead in the top of the 8th only to see the Double O's rally in the bottom of the inning. Baltimore's kids celebrated with Double-Stuffed Oreo's (with milk, of course) postgame.
It was a very workmanlike leadoff walk that led to the lead via a sacrifice fly in the top of the fateful inning. It was a one-out walk and HBP combination that led to the loss.
Brewers pitchers struck out ten while issuing the combined BB/HBP free passes.
Meanwhile, Blue batters managed only three hits but were on base via BB/HBP an additional 13 times.
This can't happen in a one-run loss, lesson hopefully learned:
Team RISP: 0-for-13.
Team LOB: 12.
We're almost 20 games into the island season now, so as the samples get larger, we'll call out more names specifically in the reports. For now, you're always just a click away from the box score.
There are another seven game of affiliate action on Saturday with the four full-season clubs al playing in the evening. Be sure to make your way over to our Minor League Forum once the late-afternoon big-league affair wraps up. Enjoy, everyone!
