Nashville Walked Off Despite Three-Run Rally in Ninth
Nashville lost to Memphis for the second night in a row after scoring three runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game. Blake Holub came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth but could not keep the home team off the board and Memphis walked off with the win.
New Brewers organization catcher Bo Naylor had an RBI single in that ninth inning as part of a 1-4 night and has an RBI knock in both of the games he’s played with Nashville. Naylor also caught the Redbirds’ speedy leadoff hitter, Victor Scott II, attempting to steal third base and did not allow a stolen base in the game.
Colton Gordon made his fourth start for Nashville since being acquired from the Astros organization. Gordon went six innings, allowing three runs, two earned, and eight hits, while only walking one and striking out four. He’s now given up eight hits in three of his four appearances in the Brewers organization, while walking exactly one batter in all four of his outings. After designating Lance McCullers for assignment, the Brewers are left with only Gordon to show in return for their roughly $2 million investment in McCullers contract and sending Jadyn Fielder to Houston.
Nashville had seven hits total from seven different hitters, Luke Adams’ double in the sixth innings was their only extra-base hit. Adams came in to score on a single by the DH Jeferson Quero.

Shuckers Fall in Walk-Off Fashion to Clingstones
Biloxi starter Jaron DeBerry went five innings, striking out five, while allowing only two hits, two walks, and no runs. Both teams were scoreless through five innings with Columbus breaking through for a run in the sixth, followed by three runs for Biloxi in the seventh and the Clingstones walking off the Shuckers with three in the ninth.
One day after posting his first Double-A home run, Marco Dinges posted his first multi-hit game at the level. Leading off and playing catcher, Dinges finished 2-4 with a double and a stolen base. Dinges’s double got the scoring started and was immediately followed by a double from Jesus Made and a single from Blake Burke to account for all of Biloxi’s scoring in the game.
Ryan Birchard earned a hold, pitching a clean eighth inning with two strikeouts. After missing all but one game in July, Birchard has made two one inning appearances in August without giving up a hit, he did walk two however in his previous outing.
